How I Stopped Worrying and Learned To Love Black Lipstick

seo-img-article

When it comes to Beyoncé (Queen of the World and Monarch of my Heart), I have a hard time pinning down what my favorite look of hers. Was it the flawless barely-there flair we saw in Crazy in Love? Was it the easygoing and confident Americana appeal in XO? Or was it the sultry smoky-eyed sexiness from Partition?

With a face as perfect as hers, I doubt it’ll be possible to actually settle on a favorite look for life, but one of the looks that definitely makes the cut are the wing tip eyeliner and black lipstick she sported in the video for Lady Gaga’s Telephone.

But fast forward to a few years later, when I read Pablohoney’s interview of Angelajess (where there was a brief mention of how Angelajess used a black lipstick to mix with her arsenal of reds) and Putri’s experiment with black lip gloss: I took it as a sign to take the plunge and and get a tube of Anna Sui #060 of my own.

After plenty of initial disappointment (the product was unavailable in the South Jakarta malls I frequented), I finally found that the Anna Sui counter in Metro Mall Taman Anggrek was abundant in the black lipstick. I bought a tube without giving it a second thought, but after experimenting with it, I immediately regretted not buying two of them.IMG_1914
