Stop Press: H&M Collaborates with Alexander Wang

seo-img-article

The success of fast fashion retailers with runway designers has made the accessibility of high-end names much easier to us humble plebs. No fast fashion retailer has found more success in the collaboration game than H&M, whose impressive list of previous remixes include collections with Versace, Maison Martin Margiela, and most recently, Isabel Marant.

It’s high time for the next designer collaboration announcement to roll along, and during a show at Southern California’s Coachella music festival, they did just that. The Swedish company announced that its next designer collaboration would be with none other than Alexander Wang of Balenciaga.

hmwangWang’s collection will debut worldwide November 6, 2014 (let’s hope that date applies for Indonesia too), and it will include clothing and accessories for men and women. Knowing Wang, his work will be low-key, feature a mashup of materials, and contain loads of black. Basically, everything I want to wear!

While the announcement of these designer collaborations set our collective hearts afire from the get-go, how many of us actually ran out to buy a piece from these designer collaborations? None of the ladies here at FDHQ own anything from the very covetable Isabel Marant collection, because between the weird queuing system for purchasing and a weak rupiah, we were a little hesitant to to pay more than a Rp. 1 million for a rather weather-impractical jacket. Hopefully Wang’s collection will be more relevant in regards to our tropical climes, and we really hope the price conversions aren’t as jarring.

Here’s to hoping! Are you as excited about this fashion alliance as we are? 🙂
