JFW 2013; Three Young and Vibrant Designers Nailed the KODO
Jakarta Fashion Week is a place for designers creativity, indeed. We can see many brand-sponsored designers, and that usually impresses me because typically, designers will follow a specific theme given to them. If that were me, I could imagine it is not easy at all to interpret the theme. It’d be a different story if I could pick my own theme, I have the freedom and unlimited ideas. But I guess, these three young designers must be feel challenged and excited about it. 🙂
Mazda presents three young and vibrant designers for Jakarta Fashion Week 2013: Friederich Herman, Toton Januar, and Cynthia Tanujaya. The theme for three of them was “KODO – Soul of Motion” which is the newest design theme from Mazda. Each designer brought their own interpretation on to their collection for the show.
Friederich Herman – My jaw dropped when I read his achievements. At a young age, Friederich already got so many recognitions, locally and internationally!
- Finalist, Most Promising Young Designer of the Year, Malaysia International Fashion Award (MIFA) 2008, Malaysia.
- Second Prize, Lomba Perancang Mode (LPM) Femina 2011 @ Jakarta Fashion Week 2012, Indonesia.
- Winner, Gading Fashion Entrepreneurship Award 2012 @ Jakarta Food & Fashion Festival (JFFF) 2012, Indonesia.
- Winner, Lomba Perancang Mode (LPM) Entrepreneur Award 2012 @ Jakarta Fashion Week 2013, Indonesia.
And for Jakarta Fashion Week 2013, he showed masculine and modern side of women. Nothing feminine, nothing soft. Black and white spoke a strong dynamic sense, and Friederich also played with digital printing in his collection, making them edgier.
