Style & Beauty Roundup: Cannes 2014

seo-img-article

Cannes 2014 has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we can’t look back at the styles and looks that will inspire us in the future. Let’s look back at some of our favorite moments from the lovely ladies who walked down the red carpet at the 67th Cannes Film Festival.

Favorite Style Trend: The White Dress

It was nice to see white dresses make the red carpet, and in ways that showed how the white dressed offered the same  the same type of flair that black dresses had — and all without looking like wedding dresses! I loved the laid-back elegance seen on Ines de la Fressange here. The body-hugging column dress is paired with a chunky bangle and simple flat, strappy sandals to bring home the idea that a white dress doesn’t always have to mean “high maintenance.”

Favorite Beauty Trend: The Nude Lip

So many stars were out rocking the nude lip on the red carpet. Really, we can point out a handful who believed that less is more. The nude lip can go one of two ways: it either encourages creativity in the eyeshadow and departments, or it begs for the rest of the look to be low-key too.

Eva Longoria and Sonam Kapoor have also chosen to wear dresses that fall under the neutral palette to accompany their looks.

Favorite Style Icon: Li Yuchun

I feel like Li Yuchun looks the way a Nicki Minaj song sounds. You know what I mean:  you can’t help but stop to look at her. The pixie cut is adorable on her and the minimalist matte makeup draws all the attention to her perfectly-choreographed outfits. She is always decked out in show-stopping numbers that beg a second, third, and fourth look so you can truly appreciate all the details.

Favorite Overall Look: Aishwarya Rai

Screen Shot 2014-06-12 at 3.23.43 PMBut as much as I love the stripped-down look, there’s no completing a style roundup list without one diva. For this occasion, I’d have to go with Aishwarya Rai. Every strand of perfectly bouncy, wavy hair is perfectly in place and her diva status us underlined with a matte orange-red lipstick. That dress has also been ripped straight-out from the Bollywood version of Beauty & the Beast. If they were ever to recreate that film and set it in Maharashtra, this is the dress she would wear in the ballroom dance scene.
