Goodbye Bad Hair Days, Hello ghd Stylers!

seo-img-article

I’m thinking about holding a funeral for my hair straightener sometime soon, because the poor thing is beginning to show signs of giving up the ghost. For one, it takes a really long time for it to heat up and once it does, it will only stay at its baseline temperature for three minutes before I have to wait for it to heat up again.

Thankfully, I think I’ve found a replacement in the form of ghd.

Always stylized in lowercase letters, ghd stands for “good hair day.” This English brand of hairstyling products and tools has been called the “Aston Martin of styling tools” and has won numerous beauty awards to prove their salt. These styling products are now available in Indonesia, and the particular tools that have piqued my interest are the ghd V Gold Series straighteners.

ghd invited editors from Indonesian beauty publications to experience a day of pampering and hairstyling to understand just why the styling tools are so prized by professional stylists the world over. At the event, here’s why we learned ghd products stood head and shoulders above their competitors:

  • Aluminum heating plates. While the heating elements are made of ceramics, the ghd V Gold series use aluminum plates because they are the best conductors for heat (therefore they heat up faster), and glide through hair with increased ease.
  • No heat settings. During the research phase, ghd discovered that the best temperature for styling hair is 180 degrees Celcius. With three sensors that detect hair thickness, the straightener will automatically adjust the temperature according to your hair’s needs. The finer your hair, the lower the temperature setting — and vice versa.
  • Rolling plates and rounded edges. The purpose of these two design features is so hair will not crimp when it meets the ends of the plate. It makes curling hair even simpler and faster, which means you don’t have to invest in different tools for straightening or simple curling.
  • Automatic shutdown. A clever little sensor will automatically turn the device off when it detects that it has not been in use for thirty minutes. I love this feature because it means I will no longer have to worry about burning down the house down if I’ve forgotten to turn off my straightener!
  • Universal voltage. I used to not care about the way my hair looked when I was on holiday, but with the ghd V Gold styler, there will be no more excuses: the slim, compact design will fit into any backpack and universal voltage will work in just about every country.
