Wednesday Wishlist: Marc Jacobs Beauty

As DesZell has already written here, finally, Marc Jacobs Beauty has launched exclusively at Sephora on 9 August. I have always felt that maybe one day Marc Jacobs will come out with his own beauty line. And he did! I thought he was going to use Marc by Marc Jacobs line, because this younger line would’ve suited color makeup well. Instead, he used his name-sake Marc Jacobs premier line.

My first thought was that the packaging left something to be desired, although it suits Marc Jacobs’ personality. For one, I know the black glossy packaging (plastic, I might add) would be a bothersome fingerprint magnet. Judging by the photos, the products (aside from foundation) looked lightweight, a little too light perhaps. But that doesn’t necessarily deter me from being a curious makeup junkie.

So here are my picks.

Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation $48

What it is:
A breakthrough gel foundation that’s anti-aging, long-wearing, and awakens your skin to its ideal radiance and clarity.

What it does:
Erase the past, perfect the present, and protect the future. Formulated with lifestyle ingredients and Buoyancy Gel™ technology, Genius Gel Super-Charged Foundation creates a weightless, natural veil that never settles into fine lines. An infusion of Soft Focus Powder reflects light to minimize imperfections, while revitalizing multi-vitamins provide supreme hydration for even application and luxurious wear.

The word ‘gel’ and ‘super-charged’ sounds like my kind of thing. Apparently it has coconut water extracts to hydrate the skin. I’m very curious about the texture of this, especially with the so-called Buoyancy Gel™ technology. It’s available in 16 shades which is quite a comprehensive selection to suit many skin tones.

LoveMarc-Lip Gel $30

What it is:
A color-saturated, long-wearing, gellified lipstick with a sleek shine finish.

What it does:
Fall in love with Marc’s irresistible, gellified lipstick. Full of pure pigment, this long-wearing lipstick has an irresistibly touchable texture. Unlike traditional waxy lipsticks, Lovemarc’s cutting-edge, gellified formula delivers the utmost in creaminess, comfort, and color payoff. An infusion of monoi butter—a velvety cream made from the tropical tiare flower—provides intense hydration, while myrrh extract works to reduce the signs of aging, and an innovative 3-D plumping agent adds gentle volume. The vivid shades are all inspired by Marc’s favorite movies.

Of course, I wasn’t going to skip on these. Again, the intriguing gel formula is what compels me the most. The description above sounds, invigoratingly hydrating, to say the least. My picks from clockwise top left: 132 Saboteur (deep maroon), 128 Seduce Me (berry red), 126 Neo-Noir (cherry red), 122 All The Way (darkest orange), 118 Roll The Dice (raspberry red), and 120 Voila! (magenta red). What? No nudes? Don’t worry, MJB has several nude shades, I’m just not a nude kind of gal.

Shameless Bold Blush $30

What it is:
A vivid, silky blush in a stylish compact that delivers bold color and unprecedented vibrancy.

What it does:
Inspired by Marc’s tattoo, Shameless Bold Blush gives you permission to pursue all the wrongs that feel so right. Petite on the outside, but generous on the inside, this patented powder brings an unprecedented vibrancy to your cheeks. Unlike traditional powders, Shameless Bold Blush melds with your skin and enables you to sculpt perfect contours. The formula is infused with bio-lipids and essential amino acids, which create the powder’s ultra lightweight, silky texture and ensures a seamless application. Choose from shades of unexpected, unadulterated colors—all inspired by Marc’s bold spirit—to create a look that is powerful, lavish, and shameless.

Gotta love the name! I love blushers. I can’t get enough of them. Figuring out which blush to wear everyday is one of the highlights in my makeup routine. Clockwise from top left: 218 Tantalizing (deep magenta), 216 Rebellious (bright pink), 206 Reckless (cool rosy pink), 204 Obsessed (warm pink). Tantalizing, the deep magenta shade, is the one I’m most curious to try. It looks incredibly intimidating and challenging at the same time. :D

Enamored Hi-Shine Nail Lacquer $18

What it is:
A superior polish with an unprecedented finish and the shine of 30 coats of lacquer.

What it does:
Get smitten with this fresh take on nail enamel. Inspired by Marc’s highly lacquered coffee table, Enamored Hi-Shine Lacquer is formulated with patented bonding agents that deliver a plasticized, wet look, while the color-rich creams and fine glitters ensure vivid, chip-resistant wear. Choose from a vast array of shades inspired by Marc’s favorite movies.

Alright, in full honesty, I love this just for the super adorable bottle. It’s unique and I’ve never seen anything quite like it before. It’s available in 24 shades (1 being clear), ranging from nudes, shimmers to brights. Clockwise from top left: 122 Ultraviolet (violet purple), 114 Snap! (mandarin orange), 124 Lux (opaque chartreuse yellow), 132 Blue Velvet (iridescent deep ocean blue), 140 Petra (dirty bronze metallic shimmer), 112 Le Charm (rosy copper metallic shimmer). I almost never wear any nail polish with shimmers or iridescence, in fact, I only have one (OPI Private Jet). But MJB selection is lovely. The complex shimmer particles with the base color have created a really nice balance.

Phew! That’s one heck of a wishlist. As far as price points, I think it’s pretty much on par with other high end brands out there. I could only hope that the products will speak adequately for the money we’re paying for them.
