The Radiance Postcard: Biyan's Love Letter to His 30 Years in Fashion

The first set of outfits that rolled out were beautiful sheer, multi-layered white separates. I wanted to post more pictures of that set to show you just how good Biyan is at making stiff silhouettes appear flowy by playing with the right materials, but unfortunately the lighting onstage was not conducive to photography. Despite our best efforts, most photos came out whitewashed, so for now you’ll just have to imagine derivatives of outfits similar to the following:

The color palate then turned a little warmer after that, with pairings of azure and tan separates. The variation in textures also made it a feast for the eyes: perhaps the most discriminating tell-tale marker of Biyan’s work is his deftness with embellishments, but the the silk dresses and skirts with traditional Indonesian prints are also a reminder of his understanding of the way fabrics fall on a woman’s body. Combinations of different materials and traditional, conservative silhouettes resulted in looks that had an air of quiet strength about them.
