IIFF 2013; The Young & Casual Troops of Hijabers

It’s some kind of challenge to design a younger looking muslim fashion with strong vibrant of youth spirit, with loose cut while still accommodating the need for practicality. Some designers addressed their collection to this particular segment, instead of glamorous and extravagant silhouette. Some brands also choose this style as their character. This easy and lighthearted looks required highly wearable fabrics, mainly cotton in combination with denim, linen and traditional woven material. Young and emerging designers mostly took the lead in this segment, but there are also senior designers who also took part in this so called parade. Who are they? Let’s take a look.

1. Hannie Hananto brought her label Anemone, had long been known to cater the young and dynamic muslimah. This collection theme was Hikayat Khatulistiwa, gathering ethnic fabrics from Palembang woven, Jogja lurik, and Makassar silk pattern in bright, bold colors. Multicultural, indeed.
