VIP Fashion Night 2013 Brings the Latest Fashion Trends
Fashionese Daily got a chance to be a part of Marina Bay Sands VIP Fashion Night 2013 with Jeannie Mai last week, April 11- 13, 2013. When I was told about this event, there’s so many exciting thoughts running through my mind. First of all, the event was held at The Shoppes Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. Second, THE Jeannie Mai was the one who hosted the whole event and all media and fashion bloggers got the opportunity to interviewed her. She is such an inspiring woman! Stay tuned because I will write about the interview later. Third, Marina Bay Sands also gave us the opportunity to see the behind-the-scenes at the preparation and explore The Shoppes plus visited some stores exclusively. Now you know why I was so excited.
Basically VIP Fashion Night 2013 is an event where we can learn, see, and get information of the latest fashion trends of 2013. It was actually the first time The Shoppes Marina Bay Sands held a fashion event worldwide. Worldwide? Are you sure? Yes, because the interesting thing about this event was that we could actually join the event via live stream on YouTube from home or anywhere you live!
Of course if we’re talking about fashion, we want to meet some fashion experts, right? Thanks to Google, all of us who were there were able to “hangout” with experts in the fashion industry - Joe Zee, Creative Director of ELLE Magazine US, and Jessica Michault, Editor & Fashion Commentator. They were both involved in VFN Google+ Hangout. And Kandee Johnson, Beauty and Style YouTube Sensation was also there joining the conversation in the next segment. Distance is only a mere word when you can use technology, indeed.
The two fashion shows were definitely the segments that I loved the most. I just love to see what’s new for this season, and seeing the models wearing different kinds of outfit was inspiring me to do more for myself. We definitely can learn a lot from a fashion show, like how to mix and match different pieces or how to wear BOLD patterns and colors yet still look fab. Not to mention, we can see gorgeous clutches and bags as well! Eye candies detected.
The first fashion show was Global Trends. We can spot black and white outfit is still stand strong for this season. Most of us love black and white. No doubt about it, because with these colors, we can show a touch of classic in modern outfit. Next is vibrant patterns. Don’t you love how lively the patterns are?! I wanted to scream when I saw the models because I loved all of their outfits! Okay, I admit, I only have a few pattern pieces in my closet, but now I’m on a mission to find some.
And speaking of Spring/Summer, it won’t be complete without the bright, bold, fun colors. Orange, red, lime green, shocking pink, and many more. The thing is, when we wear one bright color, we tend to match it with a darker color. Who’s on the same page with me? For example, if I wear a bright orange blouse, then I pair it with dark jeans or a black skirt. BUT, we actually can pair bright color with another bright color. Looks fun but I have to muster oup the courage to do that.
Many brands participated in this Global Trends Fashion show were : Moiselle, Escada, Pashma, Hoamgar, Iroo, Anne Fontaine, Raoul, Armani Exchange, Uomo Collezioni, N. Tyler, and Banana Republic. For bags and accessories, you will spot Furla, Oroton, Longchamp, Swarovski, Chopard, Nine West and also Steve Madden. And we can find all of the brands that I mentioned in The Shoppes Marina Bay Sands. The place is like a one-stop destination where you can find and buy anything from head to toe.
The last part of VIP Fashion Night was Street Style Fashion Show. Before the fashion show, Daniel Boey (for those of you who watched Asia’s Next Top Model then I bet you know who Daniel is!) and Khun Kidd from Thailand joined Jeannie Mai live on stage, Kandee Johnson also joined us via Google+. Daniel said, for street style, we’re gonna see more of neon colors, while Khun Kidd picked accessories. Khun Kidd also said Thailand people are very conscious about their fashion, and they don’t afraid to express themselves, that’s why if we’re talking about Street Style, Thailand is one country that stand out than the others.
Street style is all about confident about what you are wearing. Street style speaks freedom when you can express who you are in your outfit. And that doesn’t mean you don’t care about what you’re wearing, NO, you should care about pants, shirt, blouse, jacket, shoes, or anything that you’d wear. What you shouldn’t care is what people think about you. This is you, this is your style, so enjoy your freedom to the fullest! (in a good way of course )
In this trend, you will see denims, patterns, more casual looks, even little black dresses. I personally love almost all of them! The way they look is not too overboard. Stylish, stylish, stylish. I do take notes for myself to invest in some jackets even though Jakarta’s weather is crazy hot. What about you? Any pieces that you want to get after looking at these photos?
And the last special part of that day was that people who were at The Shoppes Marina Bay Sands also got a chance to enjoy TONS of sale in almost every store! For those who spent SGD$500 from 6PM – 9PM, they stood a chance to win a trip to Paris Haute Couture Week 2013 for two! That’s not all, ladies. The Shoppes also gave SGD 1000 shopping vouchers hourly and tickets to Dirty Dancing The Musical and The Art of The Brick Exhibition. What I can tell is, the shoppers definitely wouldn’t want to miss out on the chance when they see a lot of great deals, promotions, and prizes that day.
