What do you wear in Miami? Well, if you mostly stay in South Beach, you can wear your usual beach-holiday getup, just like what you would wear to other island or beach resort destinations. People walk around in mini summer dresses, sheer coverups, tank tops and shorts, even just in their bikinis! They also wear a lot of bright and vibrant colors – from solid neon, skin tight dresses to big bold prints – anything goes there.
But my other question was what do you wear to a semi-formal dinner and cocktail party in Miami? I had to have dinner with Make Up For Ever team that night, followed by the kick-off party of Mercedes-Benz Miami Fashion Week Swim 2013. If I were in Jakarta, it would have been simple. Wear black ‘coz it never fails 🙂 But this was Miami, everyone was so relaxed and colorful, black might seem too “serious”. After changing my outfit 2-3 times, I finally settled with…yes, this black cocktail Isis dress. The reason was because I already brought it all the way from Jakarta, it would be a shame not to wear it at all. Besides, if there was one occasion to wear black in Miami, this event would be it.
As it turned out, there were also a few people who showed up in their LBDs that night though I suspected they also weren’t from Miami 😀
