What Is It: An oil based serum from Dove’s newest haircare line Dove Nourishing Oil Care. It’s called Nutri-Oil Serum.
The Claims: Dove Nourishing Oil Care is targeted for very dry and damaged hair and the natural oils contained in this range is said to give hair that is 2x softer, shinier and more manageable. This serum promises even extra nourishment for the hair so you’ll have that smooth and shiny hair anytime you want.
The Star Ingredients: Oil for hair is all the rage nowadays and Dove Nourishing Oil Care contains a blend of natural oils such as coconut, almond and sunflower oil. These oils are rich in Omega 9 and are said to be able to repair damaged hair cells as well as making the rough and dry surface of your hair to feel smoother and softer.
Packaging & Formula: It comes in a small clear plastic bottle with pump dispenser. One pump dispenses just the right amount of product for my short hair. As the name suggests, this is an oil-based serum so the formula is golden liquid with a consistency of very thin and light oil. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue on my hands and has that fresh and slightly almond-y scent that all Dove haircare products have.
The Verdict: I’ve heard about the goodness of coconut oil for hair before, but the thought about smearing oil on my hair or scalp does not sound too appealing to me, especially because I have an oily scalp and limpy hair. I was thrilled to find that Dove released this new series to their haircare products containing not just one, but three blends of oil; sweet almond, coconut and sunflower oil. I’ve tried the shampoo and conditioner, and though they are really as moisturizing as the claim, I find that it is slightly too heavy for my oily hair. This serum, however, is the perfect product for me because I can use it on a regular basis and can get the benefit of these natural oil blends without getting my hair weighed down by the extra moisturizer. One pump is all I need for my short hair. I use it after I wash my hair, when it is still damp, just before I blow dry my hair. This serum coats my hair well and protects it from the heat of the hairdryer so afterwards, I am left with super shiny, smooth and glossy hair. Which smells good too!
Tips: use sparingly because even if this serum is quite light, it is still oil based, so if you use too much, it will make your hair greasy instead of glossy. Like I said, I used one pump for my short hair, those with longer hair could probably do with 2 pumps instead. Just rub the product between your palms and smooth it over your hair, from the middle to the ends, avoiding your roots.
What can be improved? Hmm I can’t find anything wrong with this product till now, so it’s all good for me!
