Solid Does Not Equal Boring

I am all for solid-colored tops. What I really like about solid colors is that they can be for everyone – whether your fashion taste is more demure (I raise my hand, guilty as charged), or on the edgier side. Whether you want to make your top the center of attention, or to play up the whole look by toning down the outfit while highlighting that new pretty necklace you snatched last week.

Any bright and cheerful solid-colored top would make any getup more cheerful and fresh. You can also increase the non-boring factor by playing with the fabric’s texture, cutting, drapery and/or other details like pleats and bows.

Try putting the emphasizing on your accessories – bold necklace, chunky rings, or stacked bangles. This pairing is my favorite. As I work full time in a rather formal office environment, I tend to play it safe in the cutting, color choice and opaqueness. Adding accessories is simple, and it keeps my overall look still appropriate for work, while adding some style. It does carry over to my weekend getup, where I throw more accessories and a laid-back solid-colored top with jeans

Pairing it with eye-catching bottom – jeans with peculiar wash, patterned pants or shorts, wrap skirt. It works well without having too many things happening at one time.

The interpretation of solid color top in the seasonal trends may differ from time to time. However, solids are staple items, timeless I should say. The trick is how to pair and play up to make them current and interesting.
