Who Are Your Favorite Fashion Bloggers? Here’s Mine
One of my favorite pastimes is browsing fashion blog after fashion blog. I used to do that during my breastfeeding moments. Now, I don’t have time to keep up with the growing fashion blogs, but there are a few that I subscribe to my RSS and always check back from time to time. Here are some of them:
Yes, who doesn’t know Emily Schuman? I think her most notable stint as fashion blogger is when she designed a bag for Coach. She collaborates with other brands too, but seems to be picky about it. Which is good that she just doesn’t wear everything that is sent her way. From browsing through her blog, you can see that she loves fashion and all things beautiful, but she doesn’t look like she’s a slave to fashion. She does try trends, but never look like she is trying too hard. In addition to her fashion sense, I also love her post about home organization, her vintage finds and especially her homemade food – the sweet and delicious looking dessert. The girl definitely has a good taste in all the fun things we can do as a woman.
The blog is exactly about what the domain explains; being chic from 9 to 5, which is not an easy task. Anh, who is a Taiwanese American, thought that most of the fashion blogs are owned by people who don’t work 9 to 5, hence the styles are not suitable for those who work in typical corporate setting, which I find to be true. Anh proves that working in medical industry doesn’t mean you have to dress as boring as the doctors and nurse outfits. She shows different ways to look modest, corporate-approved and stylish, all at the same time. What I love about her is, she often spotted wearing the same thing, from clothes to shoes to bags, over and over again. Her key is to buy classic and quality items. By the way, I can totally blame her for my obsession over the Anthracite color of Celine luggage :D.
Kendi post always cracks me up! There are not that many fashion bloggers that can entertain you with a witty writing and Kendi is one of the rares. She’s funny. I love her today’s outfit pictures because unlike most fashion bloggers, most of her clothes are from high street brands and thrift store finds, not the unaffordable items from designer racks that most of us don’t have access too. I think that’s one of the reasons why many people, including me, can easily relate to her. Oh, and if I’m not mistaken, unlike most of famous fashion bloggers, Kendi lives in a small town, which make her more appealing because she come across as the girl next door.
Among the other blogs, I believed Closet Therapy started way earlier. I think it was 2005. But Sheena, the owner, never seem to plan to make blogger a full time job. There were times where she would blog everyday for a month then went missing in action for another month. I followed Closet Therapy since its very beginning. And this blog is actually what inspired me to create my own fashion blog. Mine was started with random blogspot address, which then turned into Fashionese Daily, followed by the forum, which is now has a whooping 34,000 members. Not to mention that it drove the birth of Mommies Daily and a growing company called Female Daily Network. Everything I am doing now is attributed to her. I don’t know her personally, but she doesn’t seem like a stranger since her family is Indonesian and she has spent her early childhood here in Indonesia. Now, Sheena is a mom so she feels the Closet Therapy name doesn’t suit her anymore since she wants to write more about her baby and her family life, which I’m excited to read about. Anyway, moral of the story is, have a blog. You might inspire and even change someone’s life :).
A few points I can sum up from all the blogs above are:
Their blog designs are simple and neat.
They take and post nice, DSLR quality pictures with reasonable size that it doesn’t take ages to download
They give a peek into their life
They seem to be a humble individuals. It takes a skill to be able to have a fashion blogs, show your recent purchase and your wish list without coming accros as showy or a snob
Their style is something that real people like us can wear too which what differentiates fashion blog and magazine, although some of the fashion bloggers do have an unusual way of style. At least according to me.
How about you? Who are your favorite fashion bloggers and why?
