Inspiration for Hijabers: NYFW Street Chic – Cool & Covered

New York Fashion Week 2012, 9-16 February, kicked off the global calendar of Fashion Weeks, and was immediately followed by Fashion Weeks in London, Milan and Paris. While the blitz and sophistication in the runway, and designer showtime happened at Lincoln Center, heads were up all over New York pedestrian, ready to see and be seen. It had never been truer than during New York Fashion Week, when street style was just as important as the duds on the runway.

Well, I’m aware we are just into colorful season, Spring-Summer collections are everywhere at the stores display. But the styles captured during the winter season (its still winter in New York, isn’t it?), are still really worth look into. I found them really inspiring for a covered and modest look. Grab the right shawl/veil, and I’m ready to go, that’s the idea.

Well, of course, long coat is inevitable in winter. And yes, we definitely need to think many times before to trying on these styles here. But, wait, a slouchy casual coat, (lightweight cotton I guess), worn over printed pants … I couldn’t say anything, except, proceed please!

I would like to give a special note to these particular looks, a must try! A 7/8 length skirt, stacked up with ankle boots and soft hiking socks! I could just imagine these looks in a scene of romantic movie :D

Still in monochromatic tone, some striking pieces – as suede/leather jacket, brown boots, or contrasting print- would definitely distinguish your look.
