I'll start with mine. I've written a post on this topic before so i'll copy paste it here.

Tools are very much as important as the product itself in terms of make up application. If you have a very good product on hand but with the absence of a good tool, then the best results can’tbe achieved. If you happened to be a newbie that visited the

I’m sure you’re confused at the rate of the different numbers of brushes mentioned there. FD forum member Kirana asked me a while ago, what are the starting must-haves for building brush collection? Basically, you will need brushes covering the three fundamental elements: face, eyes and lips, but I will skip the lips here because you have your pinky finger salready! Here are my top five picks:
  1. Duo Fibre Brush or the infamous stippling brush, is a good start for your face brush. With this brush you can apply foundation with ease, yet achieve a flawless result. You can use this brush for powder and also blush. Learn more on how to use this brush

duo fibre brush. Alternatively, you could also get

    or Sigma duo fibre brush.
  2. A good eyeshadow brush will make all the difference in the pigmentation result of your eyeshadow. Get yourself either

or its “dupe” (i.e., duplicate or a very similar product) from MUS. This brush has short bristles with medium density. Use this brush to deposit eyeshadow, and can also be used for minimal blending by stroking lightly on the border of eyeshadow colors.
  3. Blending brush for eyeshadow is surely a must. If need be, splurge on 2 pieces of

as it will come handy. Alternatively, you could trade one 217 for MUS eye-blending brush. Why do you need two? Because this brush is not only good for blending eyeshadow, but is also excellent to be used with cream product. To blend eyeshadow, lightly stroke your MAC 217 brush in circular motion on top of the different colors of your eye shadow until you can’t see clearly where one color end and the other begin. This brush can also be used to deposit eyeshadow products before you blend it. It’s a bit stiff and the size is tad big, and therefore smaller eyelids will probably find it harder to use for blending. This brush is also good for applying cream eyeshadow, such as the beloved MAC Paint Pot. I also use this brush for applying my concealer, which why I have two pieces of this brush. The key is to always apply in circular motion to get flawless result.
  4. For applying blush I choose

. The brush with very soft and fluffy bristles is perfect for any blush finish, whether it is pigmented or sheer. To apply, tap the brush onto the product, and then tap the handle to remove excess powder to get natural results. Apply your blush from the hairline to the apple of the cheeks so that the product would not appear concentrated on the apple part. You can apply the blush in one continuous stroke, or for more natural results, apply it in small strokes until you get the desired effect.
  5. MAC flat definer brush 212 can be used for kohl, cake or gel eyeliner. It’s a great brush to venture your way into the eyeliner business. This brush can be used to draw thin stroke or a beautifully-made winged-tip eyeliner. Learn more about eyeliner-for-beginner tricks

Re: Five Must-Buy Basic Brushes

I'm not an expert in dunia perbencongan dan make up gw pun seadanya, but just to share, these are the 5 brushes that I always use
5. Eyebrow brush - no specific brand needed but I love my Mary Kay (until rusak and i hv no idea how to get it in Jakarta). It has 2 ends (one end is the brush bwt apply eyebrow powder, the other end is the sikat bwt memperhalus garisan alis jadi ga kayak sinchan
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
)
4. Blush brush - again Mary Kay just because i buy the brushes in set and this one works fine for me. Harganya murah and i def use it every day
3. Stila eyeliner brush - karena sekarang gw cuma pake gel eyeliner so this is a must, works for both Stila and MAC gel liner.. can't be bothered to use liquid eyeliner ato pensil lagi karena hasilnya gada yg bisa di compare with gel liner.
2. Foundation brush - i love my Sonia Kashuk one, pretty decent though i think masih banyak yg lain yg lbh bagus yg blon gw coba.
1. MAC 182 Kabuki Brush - unlike other my must-haves brushes, cuma ini yg gw specifik ttg brand karena this brush is soooo great. Makes all my make up jatuhnya natural. Abis pake foundation, gw buff in the streaks (kdg suka muncul di bawah mata ato dkt area mulut, inevitable) with this brush. Kadang pake powder, kadang ga, doesn't matter. Abis itu baru lanjut pake bronzer, blush and highlighter. Then, i buff everything again biar warnanya ngeblend ke foundation and i look like i blushed and glowed from within (bkn karena make up). Definitely a must, tanpa ini, make up bakal look cakey and unnatural.

Re: Five Must-Buy Basic Brushes

Good make up comes with good brushes... I believe that quote!
Brush menurut gw doesnt always have to be expensive, yang penting lembut, panjangnya rata (ngga riap2an), dan tidak gampang rontok.

From day-to-day until Party makeovers, i believe these 5 will do just fine:
1. Eyebrow color brush
Bentuknya pipih dan asimetris (Ujung yang sebelah lebih kiri lebih panjang dari ujung kanan)
Untuk ini i chose Masami Shouko, bisa dibeli di Sogo

2. Kabuki Brush
Best for applying loose powder or powder foundation
Again, i chose Masami shouko for the price and quality (terakhir IDR 145 rb)

3. Eye shadow Brush
Bentuk ujungnya setengah lingkaran, Use this for blending different colored e/s or pigments.
Also very useful untuk membentuk sudut mata
For this i chose blending brush from PAC (less than IDR 50 rb)

4. Blush Brush
Perfect for applying blush ons, bentuknya mirip kabuki brush tapi bulunya lebih sedikit, dengan
gagang yang lebih panjang. Blush Brush Body Shop is a good choice, krn lembut banget.

5. Lip Brush
Even tho applying lip color straight from the tube is less time consuming, but lip brush gives you more precision and enables you to mix-match different lip colors all at once, jadi ga perlu nyetock banyak2 warna, tinggal dicampur2 aja lip color yang udah ada dengan lip brush.

As for concealer, i usually apply it with fingers!

Re: Five Must-Have Basic Brushes

I love Ecotools brushes most. Unfortunately they don't make too many types of burshes, otherwise all my brushes would be from them

1. Lip brush. Nuf said. I like my Sonia Kashuk one best.

2. Buffing brush. For mineral foundation. I use Bare Escentuals', it works fine.

3. Ecotools blush brush. For traveling, this works as a powder brush, blush brush (powder AND cream) and liquid foundation brush. Multifungsi banget! I have two of this!

4. Eyeshadow shading brush. I can use it to deposit shadow AND blend. I like my Sonia Kashuk for Target brush most.

5. Smudge brush. I use it to put on eyeliner and to use eyeshadow as eyeliner. I don't do thin lines, so this brush actually gets much more mileage compared with my eyeliner brush. Mine is from Sonia Kashuk for Target

Re: Five Must-Have Basic Brushes

Oh wow this is hard but I'll have to go with...

1. Elf studio powder brush - can't rave enough about it: soft bristles, cheap, and it works wonder for applying mineral foundation. I even like this better than my everyday minerals flat top brush.

2. MAC 187. I use this mainly for applying my blushes but it also works great for tinted moisturizers, liquid foundations, or even bb creams (though I'm not an avid bb cream fan anymore).

3. Cosmeup (Japanese brand) eyeshadow brush. I found this baby at Centro Dept. Store and this has been my best friend for applying eyeshadow (especially for lid colors) ever since.

4. Coastal Scents: Chisel Fluff/Pointed Crease Duet. My favorite crease brush because it's small and pointy: perfect for my small crease. I'm a smokey eye wearer by night so I need a good crease brush for applying the darker color effortlessly and this does the job very well.

5. ELF Blending brush. Small and perfect density for blending purpose. Can't live without this one either.

pertama2 g suka mac187 utk apply liquid foundation, atau blush on yg pigmented bgt, soalnya si 187 ini light bgt dgn fibre bristles'nya itu.. love it! its a must, soalnya bisa utk blending, blush, or even foundation..

tbs foundation brush yg kabuki look-alike, ini untuk mineral foundation'nya tbs.. bristles'nya soft yet so densed.. bisa jadi alternatif buat kabuki macem 182 yg harganya agak2 muahal

terus untuk applying e/l, i prefer a gel/cream e/l, g pake masami shouko banyak bgt macem2 brush merk ini (cari di sogo aja) with a very reasonable price
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
utk e/l ada 2 macem brush ini, 1 utk gel dan 1 lagi utk liquid.. g pilih yg utk gel e/l deh..

1 lagi dari masami shouko brush yg g pilih yaitu yg angled brush utk blush atau bisa juga utk countouring menurut g..g suka bristles'nya halus bgt, apalagi harganya yg budget-friendly..

the last but not least, g suka pake angle e/s dari BB..multifunction bgt kalau buat g.. bisa utk apply e/s di lid, skalian utk bagian crease juga..

Re: Five Must-Have Basic Brushes

Penyebutan MAC brushes, cuman untuk referensi aja. Biar gw lebih mudah melukiskan bentuk brushnye.

Jadi inilah my Five Must-Have for Basic Brushes:
  1. Foundation brush. untuk powder/liquid foundie. gw paling demen pake flat top kabuki macem mac 180 atau mac 183 atau
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
    .
  2. Powder/blush brush. berhubung ini judulnya basic brushes, gw bisa pake 1 brush aja untuk face powder & blush. Sesuatu seperti mac 129 will do the job.
  3. Eyeshadow brush. untuk color placement & blending. I would've said mac 217, tapi dipikir2 lagi si 217 buat gw kurang nendang untuk nemplokin warna. Jadi gw lebih milih mac 239 atau
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
yang lebih nendang dalam hal color packing dan bisa untuk blending.
  4. Eyeliner & Eyebrow brush. setelah mencoba beberapa macem liner brush, paling cocok pada brush yang gepeng dan miring ujungnya. so far my best bet is mac 263.
Sebenernya 4 macem brush tersebut udah cukup buat gw. Tapi berhubung judulnya Five Must, maka eke akan menambah satu kaporit lagi, yaitu mac 217. Buat nemenin si mac 239 tadi

Re: Five Must-Have Basic Brushes

I'm the non-committed brand user for most stuffs, including brushes.
My staple brushes are:

- TBS powder brush *tak bisa ke lain brush, ini doang deh*
- Ecotools blush brush
- ELF e/s brush

sudah sekian cukup, gak sampe 5

Re: Five Must-Have Basic Brushes

My Five Must Have Brushes are...

1. ELF studio flat face brush. Multi fungsi bener. Dense tapi lembut. Bisa buat apply liquid foundie, MMU trutama wet application, or loose powder biasa aja, juga cakebbb banget. Thanks to bebbidita yang ngeracunin gue brush ini. Gue ampe punya dua biji
To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

2. Make up show small crease brush. Somehow kalo pake ini, blending e/s gue jauh lebih rapi dibanding pake yang 7S02 itu. Bisa buat apply e/s, dan highlight di bawah alis.

3. Make Up Show buffing brush. Hadeeeh, ini brush gue bawa kemana-mana. Ukurannya pas banget buat apply blush on. Terutama contouring. Jadi ga lebay.

4. TBS lip brush. Ya sebenernya any brand will do. Gue ga terlalu suka pake lipstick. Rata-rata yang di dalem pot.

5. Make up show angled brush. Udeee bagus bener nih brush buat gel liner. gampang bener bikin wingnya.

To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 5 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

2. Foundation: If i use liquid foundie then i will use Mac 130, if it's powder foundie i will use Mac 189. So it depends on the foundie i use

but lately i rarely use liquid foundie (use it only for night partey), so i would say Mac 189.

3. Blush: Mac 116. The size is good for my cheecks.

4. Contouring: Mus 15B 01. Sizenya perfect banget for contouring my face.

5. All around for face: Mac 187. Use this with Mineralize skinfinish natural for finishing.
