Ladies, ada yang udah pakai Kindle e-Books Reader (Kindle 2 atau Kindle DX) tak? Mau reviewnya dong. Rencana pingin beli dari Amazon. TIA

lil'monkey,jujur aku belum pernah make Kindle tapi ini ada reviewnya di google,bisa buat bahan pertimbangan:
Kindle2
Pros:
1. WhisperNet and Amazon’s great range of book titles (300K+ titles including 7K+ free public domain books) are still the #1 feature and make the Kindle 2.0 the best eReader available.
2. WhisperSync – synchronize across Kindle 1.0, Kindle 2.0, and soon across other mobile devices. Not only can you share books, you can also share the exact position in the book you were/are reading at – pretty cool.
3. Read to Me feature. Text to Speech is very cool and should be fun. Note: Amazon has now given publishers the option to turn this off for their titles.
4. Its very slim (0.36 inches), and sleeker with a metallic back. Opinion is divided on whether this looks better than Kindle 1 – However, Kindle 2.0 is definitely sleeker.
5. 16 level gray scale screen is much sharper than the original Kindle’s 4 shade gray-scale. A few reviewers have been very taken by the improvement in the screen, and I have to admit it looks much better.
6. Much better button placement and an end to accidental button clicks. Next page, previous page buttons are smaller, and you have to press them from the inside edge. Holding the kindle by their outside edge does not cause page turns.
7. 25% more battery life – This isn’t a plus since it’s balanced out by not being able to replace the battery.
8. 2 GB internal storage - This isn’t really a high point though because of the lack of adding more storage severely restricts things.
9. Still saving trees.
Cons:
1. Still Expensive at $359.(Feb 2009)
2. Still not pretty. Some people do find it pretty now - Perhaps I’m biased by the plain white color and plain design.
3. The lack of a colour screen is another problem I have.
4. No Next Gen technology like touch screen. Kindle 2 actually is a little behind in terms of latest screen technology – however, have to admit that touch screen doesn’t really work well with eInk and perhaps not having touch screen is a good decision.
5. No International versions. Amazon is majorly missing out on the international markets.
6. Lack of a replaceable battery.
7. Not being able to upgrade to a new memory card. This is a huge mistake - why would Amazon so severely restrict the flexibility the Kindle offers as a potential storage device for personal files and documents.
8. There is no cover included. It retails separately for $30. That’s a $30 price increase in a way.
9. Still No PDF support – you can email and have PDFs converted – however, that’s a weak solution.Kindle eBook Reader only supports 4 ebook formats – Kindle format .azw, Plain Text .txt, and unprotected MobiPocket i.e. .mobi and .prc. The Kindle also supports audible audiobook files .aa, and .mp3 files.

Kindle DX
The Kindle DX is great for:
1. Textbooks - PDF support, low weight (no more heavy textbooks), low priced Kindle textbooks make it ideal for students. PDFs don’t allow notetaking.
2. Business and Professional Use – You’ll love that kindle dx lets you carry around all your business and technical documents and PDFs.
3. Anyone with low vision – Changeable fonts, eInk and landscape mode means great readability.
The DX is good for reading newspapers, magazines though keep in mind that it lacks color and the navigation is awkward.
Top Kindle DX Pros
1. PDF Support - Official Adobe PDF support, reviewers note that PDF documents look great. Also, searching a PDF highlights the found terms. Plus page numbers for PDFs.
2. Cheaper Textbooks. Cheap Books ($9.99 for new releases and bestsellers).
3. Kindle for iPhone and WhisperSync – You can read a document or textbook across your Kindle DX, iPhone and iTouch. Your annotations, bookmarks and the page you’re on are synchronized wirelessly.
4. Large Screen – The 9.7″ screen is a great size.
5. eInk Screen – Close to zero eye strain. Much, much closer to reading a book than a computer screen.
6. Auto-rotate – looks to be a good, solid feature.
7. Read To Me - Provided publishers don’t turn it off for their books, books can be read out to you by the Kindle DX while you drive, cook, etc.
8. You can change the font size, the number of words per line and the spacing between lines.
9. Really big largest Font Size making it great for low vision people.
10. Long Battery Life – Kindle DX lasts 4 days with wireless on, and 2 weeks with wireless off.
11. Large Storage – The 3.3GB of available storage (out of 4 GB overall) gives you a lot of space (3,500 books).
12. Free Wireless Internet – WhisperNet (in Sprint coverage areas). Free is much better than a $40 a month wireless data plan. Also, browsing the web in landscape mode is great.
13. Kindle Store has 7,000+ free public domain books.
More Kindle DX Pros
1. In-Built Dictionary and Wikipedia access.
2. Free Cloud Storage – Any books you buy are stored in the Amazon cloud and you can download them anytime.
3. Good Screen Resolution – 1200 by 824 with 16 shades of grey.
4. Normal books are much cheaper in their Kindle Edition. Books usually retail for $9.99.
5. More than 300,000 books.
6. Good coverage of textbooks as 3 of the big textbook publishers are on-board. Addison Wiley, Pearson, Prentice Hall, Longman and many more.
7. Light and Thin – The Kindle DX is just 0.38″ thick. Its also light at 18.9 ounces.
The thinness of the Kindle DX is a nice contrast to the large 9.7″ screen -
Kindle DX Review – Cons
1. Price – The $489 price is definitely high (eInk technology is still evolving). Consider the Kindle 2 which is $359 (compare them at Kindle 2 VS Kindle DX).
2. No Color – eInk will not have color technology till 2011. There are other technologies (like Pixel Qi) that will have color ePaper before that.
3. No Folders. There’s no way to organize your books and documents.
4. No TouchScreen.
5. For PDFs, text to speech, dictionary and 5 way controller don’t work. There are also no annotations or highlighting for PDFs. And there is no Table of Contents.
6. Lack of extra storage – no SD card slot.
7. Note-taking is painful. It’s nothing like just jotting down notes.
8. The keyboard sucks.
9. Screen Refresh Speed – Screen takes a fraction of a second to refresh. Do look at the Kindle 2 videos – screen technology is going to be the same i.e. how it looks, how it refreshes.
10. No support for video.
11. Only available in white.
kalau diliat dari review diatas kayanya bagusan yg Kindle DX ya,dia bisa baca PDF file tapi sayangnya PDF nya halamannya ga bs di bookmark jadi harus ngulang lagi dari awal kalau kita bacanya keputus..trus sayangnya si Kindle ini cuma bisa baca 4 ebook formats – Kindle format .azw, Plain Text .txt, and unprotected MobiPocket i.e. .mobi and .prc..jadi kayanya mesti beli ebooknya langsung di amazon (formatnya .azw) atau kalau mau baca ebook2 yg didonlot gratisan harus diubah dulu ke dalam format .prc,.txt atau .mobi...tapi desainnya bagus ya yang DX...
kalau aku naksiiiir berat sama Hanlin atau BeBook,walaupun desainnya kurang menarik tapi dia bisa baca hampir semua format kaya PDF, mobi, prc, epub, lit, txt, fb2, doc, html, rtf, djvu, wol, ppt, mbp, chm, bmp, jpg, png, gif, tif, rar, zip, mp3...waduh sedep bener deh..

terutama format lit ya,soalnya ebook reader yg lain hampir ga ada yg bisa baca format ini sedangkan banyak juga ebook yg formatnya dlm bentuk ini..
terus ada slot SD card nya juga jadi bs nambah memori..cuma ya itu kapan bisa ada di indo...

atau kalau kamu mau liat review yang lain,kamu bisa coba liat review2 dari ebook reader yang lain di mobileread.com..disitu ada reviewnya Kindle,iRex,Hanlin,Sony PRS,BeBook,Cybook,dll...jadi bisa buat bahan pertimbangan..met hunting ya lil..

mitsui Iya, aku sudah pernah baca reviewnya baik yg diatas ataupun di amazonnya sendiri. Memang kekurangannya Kindle ini tidak ada extra storage card dan hanya bisa baca 4 format aja (dan tidak ada pdfnya), yg memang sepertinya intentionally dibikin begitu oleh amazon krn ebook contentnya hanya available lewat amazon (dan content hanya bisa dibeli pakai credit card issued by US banks)

Thanks for the info ya, gw mau compare e-reader brand lain yg kamu suggest diatas. Anyone using an ebook-reader here?

mitsui, kt temen yg pernah pake sony reader, batere nya sih tahan lama, tp suka mendadak nge drop, dia jg ga tau sih itu kesalahan batere nya dia aja, atau emang rata2 begitu, trs katanya suka tiba2 lambat loading nya gt, kan males ya lg baca seru2, eh loading halamannya lama

wuahhh..byk banget ebook yg blm gue punya..thanks banget yg udah share..gue sih lebih sukanya baca di hp pake mobipocket reader. soalnya lebih enak bacanya dibanding pake adobe yg mesti digerakkin kiri kanan kadang2 buat baca linenya.

klo mo convert ebook dari satu format ke format lain bisa coba pake Auto Kindle Ebook Converter. Biasanya sih gue pake itu buat convert .pdf ke .prc buat bc di hp hehe..

Venuz,temen kamu belinya dimana?Sony harganya berapa ya?iya si ga enak juga ya kalo loading nya lama,bacanya keputus deh..jadinya nanggung...hehehe
deewee,iya sama aku juga pake mobipocket reader buat baca ebook di BB ku dan sejauh ini si cukup puas..halamannya bisa di bookmark jadi kl bacanya keputus ga harus buka lg dari awal..udh gitu bisa nyimpen sampe 500 ebook di BB ku tapi ya itu kayanya kalo semakin banyak nyimpen ebook loadingnya makin lama..aku pernah nekat nyoba nyimpen 800 ebook di BB,ya ampuun waktu mau buka mobipocket nya aja,loadingnya lamaaaaa pisan aku tungguin sampe setengah jam an ga kebuka buka padahal memory di card ku juga msh banyak bgt...akhirnya dgn berat hati

,aku kurang2in banget sampe cuma tinggal 500..itu juga masi pake nunggu 3 menitan buat bukanya tapi begitu udh kebuka dan masuk ke library si udh cepet lagi..
tapi emang enak ya pake mobipocket,kita bisa nambahin cover bukunya pake mobipocket creator jadinya library nya warna warni gt..tapi ya itu,masi ngiler liat ebook reader habis kalo baca pake BB ribet kalo lagi ada sms atau telpon masuk yaaah loadingnya lama lagi...kalo pake ebook reader layarnya lebih gede trus bisa nyimpen ebook lebih banyak ya,sampai ribuan bisa kali ya udh kaya bawa perpustakaan aja...

o iya dee,aku juga donlot di ipmart disitu banyak bgt yah ebooknya mulai dari romance,chicklit,sci fi,historical,suspense sampe stephen king,asimov sama novel2 pulitzer ada juga disitu..
selain itu aku juga suka donlot di tehparadox,demonoid,BBwarez,astatalk sama viprasys..kl di viprasys itu yg paling terorganisir,tiap satu author dibikin satu thread jadi gampang bgt nge search author n ebook yg kita mau tapi ada syaratnya postingan kita harus udh 4 dulu baru bisa liat thread request ebooknya...tapi kalau udh kepepet ga ada yg kucari,biasanya si aku donlot lewat mirc..

akhirnya td malam langsung gw scan... dan itu Auto Kindle ebook converter udah dikarantinakan ama McAfee
