Love at first sight is real, yo. I ran out and bought a tube as soon as learned more about the product. I love the sleek minimalist packaging, the adorable name, the variety of shades, and its highly-pigmented color factor — everything!
You see the thing is, I’m currently in the middle of a trial separation from my collection of bold lip colors (say it ain’t so!), and have been turning to nude/neutral shades for comfort. If you’ve been reading me for a while, then you’d know by now that the only nude I’ve ever had was the Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick in PK 303, and even it only sees action inside my apartment on lazy weekends.
But then I was feeling adventurous and tried out the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul. I got plenty of positive feedback when I wore it, and I genuinely enjoyed the low-key sheerness of the brand new Estée Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine. When I browsed the Shu Uemura at Sogo Plaza Senayan for a new nude shade to bring back home, I exercised a LOT of self-control to keep myself from buying its gorgeous red, fuchsia, and bright coral. What I came back home with was the Tint in Gelato in CR 04 Spiced Orange.
Despite the name, this shade is actually more pinkish-orange that dries on the lips as a semi-matte. It glides on smooth and a little sticky like lip gloss, but even dries out with a semi-matte finish. It does fairly well in the Lipstick vs Liquids Challenge, leaving behind a stain that resembles lip gloss more than lipstick. I ate lunch with it, and did not need to reapply until about an hour or two later.
The Tint in Gelato is a product that works as a lip and cheek stain — when used as a cheek stain, it gave cheeks a healthy flush that lasted for several solid hours. I will almost definitely be purchasing more Tint in Gelato to discover more shades!
The Shu Uemera Tint in Gelato retails in Indonesia at IDR 380,000.
