American lifestyle label Tory Burch will finally arrive in Indonesia, opening its first store at Plaza Senayan sometime in August. To commemorate this the occasion, the store will be making available a very exclusive (and limited) number of black python handbags that feature leather interior and gold hardware. Only twenty of these babies were ever made, and all twenty will be available only at the Plaza Senayan store.
In addition to bags, the store will also carry shoes, accessories, eyewear, and ready-to-wear numbers. Let’s hope that the RTW line opens with the pre-fall collection, which was unleashed very recently.
This pre-fall collection is cornucopia of clashing prints any muted colors. The cuts incorporate the best part of Stalinist architecture (straight lines) with the most visually appealing diagrams in my ninth grade geometry textbooks (circles and parallel lines). While the color palette and silhouettes are spartan enough to weigh the look down, the bold graphics give them an sort of spring-collection feel.
In a press release, Tory Burch mentions that:
“For Pre-Fall 2014, we turned to photographer Gertrud Arndt, one of the few female artists to come out of the Bauhaus movement. We were inspired by the effortlessness of her self-portraits as well as the era’s streamlined mood and bold graphics — clean shapes, strong tailoring, stripes, polka dots….”
Gertrud Arndt produced a lot of photographic work in the late 1920s, and you can see the Flapper-era inspiration in the square shoulders and straight knee-length skirts too.
The accessories are on point, especially the leather rucksack and bucket bag. It’s nice to see the implementation of a dusty pink polka dots to add a touch of fun to . If you’re excitedly anticipating the store’s opening too, give us a shout out in the comments below
