Tex Saverio at Odioli.com

IMG_6781Every day, more and more online shops in Indonesia seek out your attention and $$$, but few do it better than Odioli.com. The year-old purveyor of celebrated its anniversary by announcing a special engagement with FD favorite, Tex Saverio. Under an Indonesia Fashion Forward initiative called the Give Back Program — which gives young, talented local designers a chance to shine through a special collection — Tex Saverio has designed three pieces for sale exclusively on the website. Composed of two crop tops and one dress ranging in prices from IDR 1,500,000 – IDR 2,500,000, the mini collection is a small sampling of Saverio at his pret-a-porter best.

The user experience of browsing and shopping and Odioli.com is one of the better ones in Indonesian online shopping. When a company takes time to really think about ways to make online shopping more streamlined and enjoyable, you know they put care into the curating of items they put up for sale. But you know why else I love them? They sell BEAUTY products, you guys. From brands like Urban Decay, NARS, and Smashbox — at prices that are super competitive, especially if you’re used to buying from online shops. At the time of writing, the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette is going for IDR 699,000; that’s IDR 100,000 cheaper than what you’d usually see on other online stores. We’re salivating here, and our fingers are primed for some serious shoppy-clicky action. GET TO IT.

odioliUniqlo 1st Anniversary

uniqlo annivJapanese fast-fashion retailer, Uniqlo, is going strong and celebrated its first anniversary in Indonesia with an all-out bash. It feels just like yesterday when we got wind of its arrival, and we were there every step of the way during its growth here. There are now three Uniqlo stores in Jakarta, one in Serpong, and surely more planned in the pipelone. One of its star products, the Ultra Stretch Jeans, remains a solid favorite among fans (including us at FDHQ).

To commemorate the  milestone, Uniqlo rented out Foundry no. 8 and invited a slew of stars, media, and special guests including Kimmy Jayanti and Dimas Beck. Happy birthday, Uniqlo Indonesia! Here’s to more happy, comfy, fashionable years ahead.

Makarizo Hair Show

IMG_7626On the hair front, Italian-based Makarizo held a hair trend show at Senayan City’s The Hall. The show was called Arte de Meteo, which translates as “Art of Weather.” More than twenty looks were paraded onstage — and because this was a hair trend show, some looks were more practical for everyday wear than others.

makarizo showCuriously, the show was inspired by global warming, and the looks were separated into different segments that reflected different climes: Bel Tempo (fine weather), More Calmo (calm weather), Burrasca (stormy weather), Meteo Catastrofico (extreme weather), and Arcobaleno (rainbow).  The show was very interactive, with smoke machines, fake snow, bubbles, and blasts of cold air to make the audience feel as if they were experiencing the extreme weather. But umm, okay. It kind of weirds me out that inspiration was gleaned from forest fires and flooding caused by extreme weather — phenomena that destroy livelihoods and environments wherever they crop up, by the way — but…okay. Maybe next time find inspiration from less destructive forces? Just a suggestion.
