Bobbi Brown’s famous beauty philosophy is also something that thousands of women strive for: the classic Bobbi Brown look it’s rooted in low-key, non-flashy tones. She’s even released a slew of best-selling books about makeup that are both curiously inspiring and empowering, something difficult to pin down when you’re trying to sell products that are supposed to disguise imperfections.
But the Bobbi Brown beauty philosophy is an endearing one that is captured wonderfully in all its advertising campaigns, like this one featuring brand ambassador Katie Holmes.
Now, brand and woman behind the name have given us something else to be happy about: introducing four new shades to the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick family.
This brings the total number of shades in the Skin Foundation Stick series up to 24. To make things better, the new formulation of this product promises a “creamy and lightweight texture melts effortlessly into the skin for flawless buildable coverage that helps minimize the appearance of pores and skin imperfections on all skin types.” These foundations contain mineral powders for natural-looking coverage as well as olive squalane and shea butter to moisturize skin.
I really like the portable aspect of the product; I think being able to carry around foundation in stick form is just swell because it means no surprise messes (imagine trying to apply powder foundation in a moving car) and no accidental waste (how many times have you pumped too much liquid foundation out of its bottle?). The portability also means it’s great to carry around for touch-ups! It’s best applied by stroking the product on the five facial points before blending with fingertips or a brush — so if you’re the fuss-free type who needs an easy to use foundation, you can safely leave your foundation brush at home and just use your fingers to make this product work.
I’ve yet to try out these Bobbi Brown stick foundations myself, but from previous experience with similar stick-variety foundations, I’ve found these to be creamy in a way that is also dry and cakey — which is ironic, because stick foundations come highly recommended for people with oily skin like me. But the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick contains silica, an ingredient that provides oil reduction and shine control without dehydrating skin.
I’m looking forward to trying out this particular stick foundation because I like the idea of portable, travel-friendly makeup in general. Fingers crossed that this will be my go-to travel foundation, just so I don’t have to go through the pain of spilling powder foundation or over-dispensing liquid foundation anymore.
