We Can't Wait For: M.A.C x Lorde

seo-img-article

MAC has always reigned supreme when it comes to collaborations: think back to the colorful Wonder Woman collection, the flashy partnerships with Heatherette and Dame Edna, and the playfulness of Archie’s Girls. Every season always includes a standout collaboration that leaves tongues wagging for the next one, and these limited-edition collections tend to sell out very quickly — just ask anyone who wanted something from the Riri Hearts MAC collection.

News of a new collaboration certainly has me salivating: this summer, MAC will release a limited-edition collection with Lorde. Yep, the very same musical wunderkind of the pop world whose hair I’ve already I’ve fawned (and continue to covet) over.

mac lorde 2I’d like to personally give Lorde a high-five for making it okay to wear dark vampy lipstick again. She sported the Morticia Adams look in her Tennis Court video and the 2014 Grammy Awards, so it’s probably safe to say that the MAC collaboration will include at least one dark matte lip shade.

The collection was inspired by the following face chart, which was developed by Lorde’s own makeup artist and MAC Senior Artist Amber Dreadon. This is the look she’s been sporting on tour — and based on the face chart alone, it looks like we should be anticipating neutral brown eyeshadows, defined eyelashes, soft mauve blushers, and a deep purple lipstick (maybe a variation on the Radiant Orchid, 2014’s designated Color of the Year?).

mac lorde 1This is the only info we’ve gotten on the collaboration so far: we don’t know how many products the collection will consist of, and we don’t even know what the packaging will look like. I’m sure the packaging will be amazing — how many of you have bought a limited-edition MAC products just because of kooky packaging? I know I’m guilty 😉

I’ve been wearing the MAC Diva a lot as of late, so  think I’m most looking forward to the getting my hands on the dark lipstick. How about you? Does this look like a collection you’d rush out to buy, or will you be waiting for a look that is less “nonchalant goth-vampire”? Check out Lorde’s signature look in action in the video below!

The unnamed MAC x Lorde collection is slated to come out Summer 2014.
