Here we are again, back at the end of yet another year and waiting to herald the start of a new one. This is my favorite time of the year, but it could be made even more perfect if I were in wintery weather. It’s time to dress up a little nicer than usual: a little more festive than usual, with all the glimmering fabrics and accessories. But while you’re at it, don’t forget to don lovely red pouts too.
This lipstick was a surprise, considering I didn’t realize how much I liked it until the third time wearing it.
Addiction Lipstick has one of the simplest packagings among my collection. It’s a plain black rectangular plastic tube with the brand’s name imprinted on one of the surfaces and inside the tube. Though simple and very lightweight, it does attract fingerprint marks and dust, as you can probably tell from the photos. But that’s not really a concern of mine, except when taking pictures
The classic snap closure allows you to put the cap on in any direction. It doesn’t have to be aligned with the Addiction imprint for it to close properly. Effortless really, except for someone like me, I have to align it.
Monroe Walk, an aptly-named lipstick for this particular shade, is a neutral-cool red. It leans more to cool than neutral, though. It’s bright and has that luscious cherry coolness, and doesn’t have a prolific scent or taste as far as I can tell. It’s not the most pigmented lipstick for application in a single swipe — but boy, when worn full-on, it’s very vivid!
It has a creamy texture, but not to the point where it’s slippery or too buttery. There’s a weightless, clear feel to it. And yes, you can build it up to full pigmentation or wear it as a stain. It’s very easy to control for whatever your desired result.
The bullet shape is very unique too: rounded at the top, but the pointy end allows me to be precise in my application.
Speaking of festive, how about this:
There’s just something — and I can’t quite pinpoint what it is — that I love about Monroe Walk. If I can say it’s a classic red, it is, but it’s more than that. That vividness is truly a head turner; it’s a holiday red.
I am this close to wearing a green outfit to go with this, and I might just do that sometime in the future.
Here’s another surprise: this actually has really good wear time. I was eating, drinking, and munching around for hours, but the lipstick stayed put nicely. It wears down evenly too, with a superb staining quality. I can’t wait to rock this on my Christmas dinners and parties
So tell us, what lipsticks are you going to be wearing this holiday season?
