My Morning Makeup Essentials

As a woman who loves to wear makeup (and skincare products, of course), I receive comments from people around me about how heavy their bags would be if they were me.  They imagine the amount of products I have to carry every single day, and that thought scares them.  It makes me laugh, because if I want to use only the essentials, it won’t take too much space in my bag.  I can walk out the door with just two items and I’m good.  Of course I have to check my schedule first: if I have to go to some formal event, then I need more than just these two. But for my daily basic quick routines, these are the only products that I use :

The must-have SPF : Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Base SPF 50+ PA+++
I lose count of how often here in Fashionese Daily we mention the importance of SPF for our skin. I joined FD last year, and believe me, the ladies in the office are always “screaming” at makeup and skincare newbies to wear SPF :D Affi mentioned another sunscreen from Biore in this post, and I’ve tried another different sunscreen from Biore, as you can see in this post.  I guess we can’t get enough of Biore sunscreens until try all of them!

I get that not everyone loves to wear makeup, but please, please, please get sunscreen at your nearest drugstore/department store, because it helps protect your face from UV rays.  You don’t want to look like a leather bag later on in life! I also use it as a face primer, since I found that adding another layer of primer would be troublesome.  My current favorite is Biore UV Aqua Rich Water Base SPF 50+ PA+++. It blends like a dream and doesn’t leave a sticky feeling onto the skin! It feels light and doesn’t make my face look ghostly white. Tested, proven, and guaranteed. If you’re looking for a good sun protection, I highly recommend this one.

A little goes a long way foundation : Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation
In the morning (especially those mornings when I’m running late) I could not care less about concealing the bags my under eyes, my acne, or my blemishes. I need a quick almighty foundation that can cover everything! Of course I’m not expecting a perfect flawless spotless face, but I do think this foundation can do that. If I could rate the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation, it would be 4.5 stars out of 5. Yes, it’s that good.

Trusted eyeliner : Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes 0L
You may have noticed that I didn’t include a single eyeshadow in this post. This is because in the morning, I think it’s more important for eyeliner to have a place in the essentials. I loooove wearing eyeliner, regardless if it’s just a thin line, a tightline, or on the waterline. I mostly tightline and draw on half the waterline in the morning, but with a waterproof and smudge-proof eyeliner of course. Even though I haven’t found the ultimate waterproof and smudge-proof eyeliner here in Indonesia, Make Up For Ever is Aqua Eyes is a very good option so far.  Only a little bit of color transfers, and it can easily be wipe clean with fingers or a tissue. No biggie.  It doesn’t transform me into a panda, so it’s all good.

The eye-popping mascara : Benefit They’re Real!
Do I need to say more about this best-selling mascara from Benefit? :D It adds volume while lengthening and curling my lashes! Benefit They’re Real has the type of bristle that I like, especially since I discovered that they do a great job of separating my lashes without giving that unwanted clumpy effect.

Nice and easy to use lip color : NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream Istanbul
If you’ve read my post about 8 makeup products under Rp 100k, then you might have read the one comment from Manda asking me why I didn’t include NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in that post. I didn’t include it because I haven’t tried it at the time of writing :D But thanks to her, I now have one more addiction in the lip department!  This particular shade is originally from the NYX Parallel Worlds Makeup Collection, and since she mentioned about NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream, I automatically grabbed this one first and tried it right away.  Where have I been?! It gives a nice matte finish without making my lips peel, and this Istanbul shade has a pretty, pale pink color!  Will review the whole collection from NYX Parallel World, so stay tuned for that.
