I’m trying to grow out my hair. I don’t remember the last time I had long hair, since I’ve always kept it short. What started as sort of an experiment (“Let’s see how long I can stand it before having the urge to chop it off again.”), has now been adopted as my new, semi-permanent look.
I always thought women were divided into two types: the short-haired ones and the long-haired ones, with me, of course, belonging to the first group. Long-haired gals might venture into short hair when they feel like they need a break from their routine or to get out of a particular rut (usually after a breakup, ha!) but eventually, they will go back to growing their hair long again and keep that as their style most of their lives. The same goes for short-haired girls, which happened to me. And it’s almost like a personality trait.
But I guess I was wrong, because as it turns out, I can also be a long-haired gal–and I love being one! I didn’t realize how much fun you can have with your hair once it has grown out of its annoying “no longer short but not quite long long” phase. Now that my hair has gone slightly past my shoulders, I have been enjoying it a lot: using flat irons to straighten and curl it, trying out different hair colors, experimenting with different ‘do at parties, etc.
But of course, all that fun come with a price: my hair is now getting slightly dry and frizzy at the ends. Yikes!
So now my days are totally dependent on this one awesome product from Kérastase: Elixir Ultime Thé Impérial.
It’s basically a hair oil which belongs to the Kérastase Elixir Ultime Grands Crus collection, launched a few months ago. The Grands Crus used the famous original Elixir Ultime Oleo Complex formula and added natural ingredients and luxurious fragrances. There are three scents introduced in this collection: Rose Millénaire, Moringa Immortelle and Thé Impérial, each containing a blend of pracax oil, argan oil, maize oil, and camellia oil. I have been using Thé Impérial, which is formulated for color-treated hair and contains white tea extract.
What I love about this product is how versatile it is. You can use it before shampooing your hair, after shampooing, before blow-drying, as a leave-in conditioner, or just to add extra shine after styling your hair. Because you can use this oil on dry hair, you can also use it during the day to tame any flyaways or frizziness. Since I blow-dry or flat iron my tresses almost daily now, I always use two drops of Kérastase Elixir Ultime Thé Impérial before exposing my locks to the heat of these hair styling tools.
After all that, I would add one more drop and smooth it out through my hair, from the middle to the ends, so it will look sleek and shiny. This oil does not weigh hair down or feel greasy at all. It just makes my hair smooth and shiny (I am guessing from the silicones listed as one of the main ingredients). I am also slightly addicted to its delicate floral scent; it’s not too overpowering but it does the job to make my hair exude that “expensive” smell
I don’t know if continuous use of this product will provide extra nourishment or improve my hair condition, but I am not too concerned about that since I use other products for that. All I know is I won’t leave home without first using Kérastase Elixir Ultime Thé Impérial!
