Today's Outfit; My First Radio Talkshow

seo-img-article

Last week, I was invited to share at UFM radio show, Dancing Heels, Thursday spot by Moza Pramita and Affi. 😉
This is the first experience for me, to do the radio show! Oh well, I think I did something like this before back in college, but really couldn’t remember for what occasion. 😀

One thing I knew for sure, it would be chilly inside the studio, somewhat in contrast with the designated topic we had to cover:’hijab vs panas/gerah’. So these multi-layered outfit was very fitting.

Moza and I were talking about hijab fabric, which I prefer to call it kerudung actually, to understated only a piece of cloth to cover our head to chest, what are the appropriate or recommended fabrics to use for newly hijabers. As we all probably started with, I suggested paris cotton or voal (the smoother and gentler type of paris). As they’re so easy to begin with, and we usually don’t style them too much, only some basic hijab styles. But paris is not recommended for further styling, like some wrapped-around, or one that’s tightly wrapped around your neck.
For further choices, which some of us are already familiar with, there are sooo many types of fabric versatile enough to style. Chiffon and the abundant mixtures, the famous ceruti, cotton, crepe, polyester, and many more. However, I never get along w/ cotton cloth (kaos) fabric, one that has gained its popularity 1-2 years ago.

For this casual occasion, I wore a type of chiffon, we usually call it ‘sifon kulit jagung‘, because its texture is just like corn husks. It serves the versatility of chiffon, minus the slippery texture. It also has enough texture, something of a great plus in hijab styling. I prefer a simple inner with fine fabrics like jersey, which only covers the head, to ninja inner that covers all over the head, neck and chest.

This is one of my recent love shawls. It’s not just a plain long-rectangular shawl, but it has two drawstrings alongside, and buttons at two edges. So imagine how many styles I could make from this one piece of fabric.
