Current Obsession: Sephora Eyeshadows

seo-img-article

I started an eyeshadow ban for myself at the beginning of this year and allocated a specific budget for things that I really need. I don’t have a huge collection of eyeshadows, but I realized I have more than I actually need. To be honest, I don’t even hit a single pan of any eyeshadow I own to this day. Eyeshadows might look so small, yet they’re the type of product that can last for a VERY long time. Moreover, I have more than one palettes and I tend to change what I put on my eyes frequently. So for me, it is a “hard job” to finish a single pan of eyeshadow. But that doesn’t mean I refuse getting gifts. I am more than happy if someone would give me one at this very moment.

In this post, I want to talk about two Sephora eyeshadows. A single eyeshadow and a palette. I got the single eyeshadow from Sephora- The Shoppes MBS and the palette from my mom. I’m not breaking my ban, right? 🙂

During the period where I began to love makeup, I was a bit skeptical with Sephora eyeshadows. Probably because everyone says M.A.C eyeshadows are “the one” and a lot of people are praising the famous and still my favorite Urban Decay Naked Palette. Not to mention there are high-end brands eyeshadows like Tom Ford, Chanel, Dior, and many more brands that have amazing palettes in every collection! In addition, when I watch beauty videos on YouTube, I rarely see beauty gurus who use Sephora eyeshadows. So I’ve never wanted one before, therefore I’ve never bought one.

But you’ll never know unless you try. Now I can say that Sephora eyeshadow is one of my favorites! The single eyeshadow that I got is Rock the Runway #51 and I love it very much! This is the kind of color that I would use when I want to go out with smoky eyes, add a statement with my eye makeup, or simply when want to make my eyes noticeable in a good way.

The color is taupe (grey-brown) with a touch of purple in it. Very pretty and I can wear it on its own without adding another color, just make sure to blend it very nicely with the right brush and I’m good to go. Oh, one more thing, I love the packaging! The plastic somehow feels strong and not too bulky. I also can remove the pan and move it to a bigger palette if I want to. Probably in the future I will do that after buying more colors. Here is the swatch, and I guess now you know why I love this color. 🙂

Moving on to the mini palette. My mom gave me Sephora 4 Shadows and Liner Palette last month. She couldn’t resist the temptation when she visited Sephora, she bought the exact palette for each one of us. Obviously my mom still thinks hers and my brown eyeshadows are not enough, and of course I’m not complaining. This mini palette is Sephora Colourful Palette Taupe Model #06. As you can probably tell by the name, it has four eyeshadows and one shadow that is supposed to act as a liner, but I can still use it as an eyeshadow. I prefer to use a black liner so this matte brown is going to end up as an eyeshadow anyway.

Now let’s take a look at the colors. Starting from the upper left, the light gold colors is Californian Blonde #10 that gives a nice highlight on the inner corner of my eyes without looking too strong. Sometimes a highlight color can make my eyes look very weird, you know what I mean? This color is totally safe, and it’s the right “proportion” to give a nice highlight. The upper right color is Marie #14, a taupe brown that I often use if I want to look a little bit polished with very minimum effort. :p The bottom right color is Beige (the packaging doesn’t include any numbers), which is a light pink that I love, because my eyes appear more open with this kind of color. The bottom left color is Coffee Brown #18, one that I would use if I want to look smoky that day. The supposed to be liner is the one called Liner-Mat Brown, and I think the name is self-explanatory.

The packaging is so compact and sturdy, plus it doesn’t need much space in my makeup pouch, so I can easily throw it in there. As you can see on the swatch photo below, the pigmentation of these eyeshadows are pretty great. The 4 colors have pearly finish, nice color payoff and for me, they are very easy to blend. The colors can last for 6 solid hours on me without creasing, even without using an eye primer. Of course it can be different for each person, depending on how oily your eyelids are, and depending on the shape of your lids.

Over all, I’m loving all of them! I’ve been using these eyeshadows almost every day since last month. If you have a doubt on Sephora eyeshadow like I used to, let me offer you some comfort to go ahead and give at least one of them a try! 🙂
