 <div class="container">This fashion event literally stopped traffic! <img class="aligncenter img-responsive wp-image-54539" title="IMG_0454" src="//www.fashionesedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/IMG_04541.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="306" /> In the beginning of May, I arrived in Singapore to attend the opening of <a href="http://www.orchardroad.org/fso/">Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013 (FSO 2013)</a>, a 6-week annual fashion extravaganza organised by Orchard Road Business Association (ORBA). This event opened with Orchard Fashion Runway - which turned the usually bustling Orchard Road into a 658 meter outdoor catwalk! I was invited by <a href="http://www.ionorchard.com/en/">ION Orchard</a>, who became the venue sponsor for Orchard Fashion Runway Champagne sundowner party just before the fashion show begun. More than 170 models strutted down Orchard Road sporting the freshest Spring/Summer looks and Fall/Winter styles from celebrated international and local brands such as  Fausto Puglisi; Victoria, Victoria Beckham; Coach; J.Press; Robinsons; Marks &amp; Spencer; Adolfo Dominguez; Maria Grachvogel; and Blugirl. The show was open for public viewing. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-54545" title="FSO_1" src="//www.fashionesedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/FSO_1.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="333" /> I was pretty lucky to be able to witness this fashion extravaganza from the front row seat. It felt quite surreal to sit on the normally busy street of Orchard among hundreds of very fashionable guests. The street itself was occupied on one side with a few rows of chairs, lining up the 658 meter runway, while the rest was kept clean with only a few oversize balloons sporting the Samsung Fashion Steps Out 2013 logo. A line of separator was erected along the runway to keep spectators from entering the space, but from my seat, I could see hundreds of eager faces from shoppers, curious bypassers and amateur photographers crowding around the gate. Another interesting thing about the setup that night was the hand painted, pop art chairs designed by Mazlan, better known as SKOPE. A total of 500 chairs, including the one I was sitting on, certainly added an element of fun to the whole event. What makes it cooler is these chairs will be donated to various charities such as  Rainbow Centre; Association for Persons with Special Needs; Movement for the Intellectually Disabled of Singapore; and Ren Ci Hospital etc. after the Runway show. <img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-54542" title="photo" src="//www.fashionesedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/photo.jpg" alt="" width="500" height="373" /> Anyway, the fashion show itself was quite a spectacle. Despite the length of the runway, I thought all of the models did a great job, at least nobody looked out of breath. :D Every label was presented in a classy way, with just the right amount of drama. My favorite was Fausto Puglisi and Coach, where the models strutted the runway with bicycles, flower baskets and their own personal porters who helped the ladies carried their leather totes. Alright, enough from me.
