LaSalle Graduation: Young Creative Overflow

seo-img-article

It was a happy occasion at Senayan City on the night of April 20th, when students of LaSalle College International Indonesia proudly celebrated their graduation. Among the proud, beaming graduates was Female Daily’s Digital Account Executive and resident twinkle toes, Mazaya! She completed her Bachelor’s in Fashion Merchandising six months ago but was grouped into the 2013 commencement ceremony. Here she is looking ready to take on postgraduate life with a great statement necklace. Congrats, Maya!

The graduation ceremony took place at Senayan City’s The Hall, and was packaged to be a commencement and art show all in one: titled TwoFiftySix Creative Show 2013, parents and guests took time out to inspect and appreciate the combined installations by graduates from different faculties.

But the highlight of the night was a fashion show presented by students from the school’s Fashion Design faculty. The show was preceded by a group of dancers who wear LED-lit suits in a dance number I can only describe as Black Swan meets Tron. More than 150 outfits by graduates graced the runway to a fantastic and energetic audio-visual accompaniment that encapsulated youthful drive; one of these graduates of Gloria Agatha of jii, who I profiled earlier this month.

Overall, the show was rich with structures, textures, and inspirations. We saw tinges of bombastic futurism, ancient Egypt, Alice in Wonderland, and even a children’s clothing line! There was no shortage of creativity on the runway that night, and if this is just a small sampling of young Indonesian people who want to make it into the fashion, then it’s pretty safe to say that the future of our wardrobes are in safe hands. Congratulations graduates, now go do your thing!
