The Road to Ideal Skin with Tsuya

I’m still a juvenile when it comes to skincare. I don’t necessarily have the will to try out new regimen because I have sensitive skin, therefore my knowledge is still limited, yet growing. But I’m always happy to share the products that’s working for me.

One of them is Tsuya Skin Youthful Radiance Generator Essence by Shu Uemura.

Tsuya is Japan's word for ideal skin.

What it is: an essence to reactivate cell regeneration that reaches new heights in achieving beautiful, youthful skin. With Tsuya Skin, say goodbye to dull, rough and tired-looking skin. In 7 days, achieve porcelain-fine, petal-soft and translucent glowing skin.

The star ingredients:

  • Rhamnose: penetrates deeply to reactivate the skin’s youth power switch. It serves to boost cell regeneration and provides significant improvement in all fundamental skin layers to achieve ideal skin.
  • Enju Flower: “enju” meaning longevity in Japanese, is well known for its powerful live force.

A little info, I had a horrid breakout sometime in the November last year, due to stress and hormonal change (and dirty brushes *shame*). My face produced acne non-stop, particularly under the cheekbones area. It went on for about couple of months and left me with multiple acne marks. I used La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo to help with the acne, awesome stuff, but it doesn’t help much in improving the skin’s texture. My skin was dry, even more sensitive and extremely dehydrated. It just looked dull and sallow.

As I mentioned in my previous article, I went to a Shu Uemura’s beauty workshop and tried quite a few of their products, including Tsuya. That very same night I went home after I cleansed my face, I could see the difference right away. Even better in the morning. My face was brighter, for the first time in months. I knew it wasn’t just a coincidence. It had to be Tsuya.

The essence is bottled in white porcelain with opalescent finish. It feels heavier than it looks. Since it is made out of porcelain, put it somewhere safe to avoid any unwanted accident. It has an angled dropper to dispense the product. The liquid is milky opalescent, pale lavender in color. Aesthetically speaking, the whole presentation suits the ‘porcelain skin’ tagline. Very clever.

How to use: apply Tsuya after toner and before moisturizer. The instructions says 3-4 drops, but I find 2 are drops enough.

  • as a serum: to repair the skin tone and texture.
  • as an enhancer: we can use it before our regular serum. Tsuya will improve the performance of the serum, especially for fine lines, dark spots and such.

As much as I love my First Aid Beauty products, I knew something was missing. I needed something more, not just moisture, hydration or exfoliation, but something to bring life back into my skin, fast. Tsuya was it.

In the beginning, I applied Tsuya at night and found it very beneficial. Not only it makes my face bright and glowing, I really like how it keeps my skin hydrated. Then I tried to use it in the morning and I was hooked. It made my makeup looked and held better. My skin is hydrated throughout the day, it feels comfortable. Ever since then, this has become a staple in my daily skincare routine.

It has a lotion texture, easily absorbs to the skin.

Let’s come back to the 7 days promise, shall we?

Well, I think it’s still a long way before I can achieve the Japanese clear skin we all dreamed about. But after 7 days, I could see my skin looked healthier. I, for one, don’t expect my acne marks or sun spots to disappear in a week. That’s just unrealistic. However, after a month of use, I do see several good improvements. Those imperfections have indeed lightened. And my gosh, my skin’s texture has gotten so much better. It’s smoother, supple, hydrated and glowing. The dullness is gone. I am beyond ecstatic.

I’ve been using Tsuya for about 3 months now and I can see the bottle is running out fast. Will I repurchase this? Of course. I think this is a very good serum for day and night. It’s perfect for someone like me who likes to keep it simple. Oh, did I mention that it has a soothing, divine floral scent? Love it :)

Tsuya Skin is available at Shu Uemura counters for IDR 975,000 (30 ml).
