The Perfect Look to Wear for Your Next High Tea Session

seo-img-article

Picnics and teacups and desserts! Picnicking is something most people associate with a sunny day in the outdoors, and London-based label Coast tried to bring the feel of an outdoor English tea party to its Plaza Senayan store. The garden party theme was used to present its Spring/Summer ’13 collection, and it worked out very well: guests were welcomed to tea and desserts on patches of astroturf behind a white picket fence while a cellist entertained with some soft tunes.

The ambience of the event was very well-suited to the look of the new collection collection which was heavy on pinks, whites, and purples. As usual, all of Coast’s painstakingly detailed embellished dresses are done by hand, but the highlight (and most adorable) pieces were their series of knee-length tea dresses. Described as “contemporary, girly and glamorous,” these silk and satin dresses are full of little details such as ruffles and lace. This is springtime finery at its best.

The saleswomen were attentive and kind, and when I asked them what their best-selling item was, they pulled out this lacy blue number. Note the mesh detail at the waist!

But if you’re not too crazy about soft colour palettes and don’t like the idea of looking like a Disney princess on her lunch break, have no fear! Coast also carries a selection of dresses in darker, more muted tones for evening cocktail events.

Also available were shoes, clutches, and hair accessories that were specifically designed to complement their dresses. So swing down to Plaza Senayan’s Coast for your next special-occasion dress! The only thing keeping me from purchasing a complete outfit comprised of a dress, shoes, and accessories from the shop is an invitation from Kate Middleton to a fabulous garden party (ahem).
