Rejoice, all jeans-and-t shirt girls (and guys), for I have happy news! Japanese retailer Uniqlo, peddler of all things casual breezy, is scheduling to open its first Jakarta store at Ciputra World’s Lotte Shopping Avenue by mid 2013. To whet your appetite for its heralded arrival, Uniqlo has ramped up the marketing for its world famous T-shirts campaign – known globally as UT – by corralling the likes of actors Sherina and Rio Dewanto as well as footballer Bambang Pamungkas.

Why the broad range of talents in their campaign? Uniqlo is well known to have previously recruited actors, bloggers, and even magazine editors to star in their advertising campaigns. This is, perhaps, a public show to let everyone know that their collection of shirts are available in a multitude of shades and design to suit all palates within the fashion prism. Yasuhiro Hayashi, their Chief Operating Officer in Indonesia has stated that Uniqlo has “collaborated with many highly acclaimed brands and leading companies for over 1000 unique T-shirt designs every each year.” They do this to let their buyers mix and match their shirts according to their needs, feelings, and personality.

Bridging the gap between high fashion and street-style steez, the Jakarta Uniqlo will feature shirts that have been approved by the likes Lulu Guinness and Karen Walker, while art enthusiasts will enjoy pieces that feature Andy Warhol tributes. The kids will look nothing short of adorable with shirts that feature Disney, Snoopy, and Hello Kitty prints, but I’m sure you will too!
