M.A.C Spring/Summer 2013 Trends

seo-img-article

I love to know more about makeup trend.  I admit, even though I’m not using all the looks on my face, it’s always interesting to see how makeup can make someone’s face more fierce, soft, fresh, or glowy.

So when I received the invitation to M.A.C Spring Summer 2013 Trend Presentation, I was so excited.  Especially, the person who gave the presentation was Victor Cembellin, M.A.C Senior Makeup Artist from North America.  He’s a funny guy and very friendly, everyone loved him! 😀  And he explained the trends very clear.  He did a little demo to explain how to get the look and how to complement certain looks by adding a little more highlight, powder blush, etc.  Can he come to Jakarta to explain the next seasons’ trends?

Before jumping to the trends, if you see the photos below, you probably notice there are some products that are not available in Indonesia, yet.  A few teasers for M.A.C fans out there.  :p

E A S E + E D G E become one in Spring Summer 2013, a season when the key beauty notion is one of simplicity with a forward thinking  freshness to it. M.A.C brings four trends for Spring/Summer 2013, and these are the trends that they used in New York, Paris, Milan and London Fashion Week.  There was a video at that time showing all the senior makeup artist used these trends on models.

Without further ado, let’s see the fantastic 4 :

1.  Sig-nature

If I had to describe this trend, I’d go with “Fresh hydrated face no makeup – makeup”. Sig-nature accentuates flawless luminous skin.  You won’t see intense red, pink, or peach blush, moreover strong contour color in this trend.  Sig-nature is all about hydrated perfected skin, so it’s far from that matte finish.  You can see the glow on the face like it’s a glow from within.  So, do we need to highlight our face?  Yes, we do!!  For skin, rather than covering things up, let the actual skin comes through, just specifically conceal where needed. Sig-nature is an effortlessly flawless look, so fresh, and it is definitely my favorite.  🙂

2. Nu-ance

Nu-ance brings pastel colors like turquoise, lilac, lemon, mint green, aqua, peach, apple.  In short: fresh colors.  This trend creates a contrast to create a great drama. If we play with eyes, then keep the others simple.  If we want to focus on lips, then let the eyes go bare without lashes and mascara.

3. Sci-chedelic

You can see one feature that’s jumping forward.  It seems a little bit off and too much, almost unpretty to be frank.  Like the weird lip color combo, and glossy orange and metalic eye shadow in the photos above.  But that’s the point. 🙂  Sci-chedelic shows the futuristic side of makeup. It feels very 60s in a modern way-if that makes sense.

4. Puri-tan

We play with a lot of honey, golden, and sand tone to create sun kissed look.  Puri-tan is an understated glamour where we can see beauty from modern tan.  Bronzer is a must, as well as the aquatic effect to project the healthy tanned skin.  This trend reminds me of the beach, hence the tan.  It is the kind of makeup that makes your skin looks healthy and sexy, in my opinion. 🙂

As I’ve said earlier, Victor did a little demo to show us each trend.  Here are four of them, I bet you can guess correctly.

Which one is your favorite, ladies?  I’ll go with Sig-nature for sure.  But yeah, Sci-chedelic looks challenging. 😀
