Homemade Remedy: Lemon for Lightening Spots

seo-img-article

At least half of the women in the world have hyper pigmentation, acne scars, or sun spots.  There are a lot of over the counter products targeted specifically for this concern; from toner, cream to spot treatment, from inexpensive to very expensive products. We often get confused in the end.  Sounds familiar?

Now, how about trying the cheapest natural alternative first before spending (lots of) money?  Lemon is known as a spot and oil remover.  We can use it by rubbing a lemon (cut in half) all over our face gently or we can use lemon juice as a toner to lighten spots.  We can also pour some lemon juice on a Q-tip and gently dab it on the spots area. It helps reduce redness, spots, and excess oil.  Some even are able to control their acne by just using lemon.

But please do take note, lemon contains citric acid which acts as an exfoliant that removes dead skin cells.  It also has natural alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) which is commonly used in skin care products and chemical peels.  So don’t be surprised if your skin may get dryer than usual and peel. It just mean the lemon is working.  Dead skin needs to be removed often to let the new skin turnover takes place. (more…)
