The Wonders of Lasem Translated into Textile & Makeup

Is there any city in Indonesia that you’d like to visit? I believe that many of our readers will answer Bali, Bunaken, Belitung, Raja Ampat, or other popular cities with many tourist attractions or stunning natures. How about Lasem? Does visiting Lasem ever cross your mind?

As a fan of batik and other traditional textiles, my trip to Lasem last December was like a dream come true. Since the first time I heard the story of Lasem from Rizka, our former editor, I’ve been wishing to tag along with her anytime she visits her grandparents. But the invitation never came :D. Thanks to Sariayu Martha Tilaar and its Enchanting IndOriental Beauty Journey, now I can cross that off my bucket list!

On the last day of our trip, Sariayu Martha Tilaar took us to Lasem, a small town in Rembang Regency, about 4 hours from Semarang. We were scheduled to visit two of the most famous batik workshops in Lasem: Batik Ningrat and Batik Sekar Kencana.
