It’s rather unusual for a cosmetics company so well known for its sophisticated skincare line to also carry exceptional makeup line too. More often than not, the quality is not on par with the skincare counterpart. The case with Clarins is quite the opposite. Not only its makeup line is quite extensive, it is also of high quality and with amazing color choices.
Its signature lipstick, the Joli Rouge is one of the more-well-known makeup item from Clarins. Curiously, not many people are aware of its superiority and hopefully this review will bring light to the situation.
The Product: It has creamy formula with great pigmentation, silky smooth application and very moisturizing. The moisturizing part is one of the best in its class and price range, lips stay hydrated even after the color has faded. I don’t see any need of applying lipgloss on top. It has a nice fruity scent with subtle fruity taste, neither cloying nor overpowering. Staying power is quite good, up to 4 hours, and even after light meal and coffee(s) there’s still decent amount of stain on the lips. It fades evenly and elegantly without leaving the dreaded “ring of shame” (you know, when your lipstick is all but gone, leaving you only with a thin line of color along your lips’ border).
