Gadget 101: 5 Simple Guides on Buying (NEW) Android Phone

Keeping up with Android devices has been quite challenging for me. It took me 1,5 months of extensive research before I decided to buy an Android phone for the first time. There are a lot of reviews out there on the internet about the best Android phones in the market, but this  hype machine makes it difficult, since everyone always seems to be touting one phone as “the best Android on the market”.  The fact that actually matters, however, is that it isn’t about getting the newest and best phone. It’s about finding the best phone for you right? 🙂

1. Software

Yes currently Android OS has been updating a bit (too) frequent. The newest version, 5.0 Jelly Bean will be released anytime soon,  it is quite a challenge to keep up with these updates.  The latest version by today is 4.04 Ice Cream Sandwich, which features new sleek user interface, awesome camera capabilities such as: continuous focus, stabilized image zoom and face detection; then Face Unlock feature which  is a new screen-lock option that lets users unlock their devices with their faces, which is kinda cool for me. But if you are low on the budget, the previous software which is 2.3 Gingerbread is already a good choice because of its streamlined user interface and its ability to manage your CPU usage and power through its built-in app.

2. Storage

Most Android phones come with a small amount of internal application storage, but use microSD memory cards for things like videos, photos and music. For me, I would still prefer to get a phone with a big internal storage capacity. Why? because some applications cannot be moved to microSD, even when I try moving it with Application Manager. If you intend to buy a larger microSD card for your phone, it’s worth checking that the device is able to accept higher capacity variants. Most phones will happily accept cards of up to 32GB , but there are some exceptions too.
