Ardistia New York, Mardiana Ika, Carmanita & Ali Charisma at IFW 2012
Since Indonesian Fashion Week 2012 schedule was so close to our Women Wired Weekend, all Female Daily girls were busy preparing our event. I only got the chance to watch one fashion show. It was International Flair by Ardistia New York, Mardiana Ika, Carmanita and Ali Charisma. The fashion show that night was quite interesting because each designer show his/her signature style. So, there were plenty choices and styles to offer
ARDISTIA NEW YORK
The first collection on the fashion show came from Ardistia New York. It carried the brand’s signature style which is timeless, modern and versatile. Presenting its Spring/Summer 2012 collection, it was themed “Contour Fluidity”. The collection is full of geometric lines, detailed construction and fine materials. Flowing blouses, dresses, jackets, multi-collar blazer come in light tan, burnt orange, peachy blush, dark fuchsia, black to creamy vanilla.
Next collection was from Mardiana Ika with her label Ika Butoni. Themed “Beauty and The Beast”, the collection combines beautiful fabric such as lace or brocade with leather that represents the ‘beastly’ side. The colors in the collection are dominated with black, white, brown and red.
And then Carmanita’s collection was paraded on the runway. She highlighted batik as Indonesian heritage and combined it with other nations’ culture. In this collection, Carmanita created batik on Indian sari and Japanese shibori fabric . These materials were transformed into attires full of drape, asymmetric lines and loose cutting.
The show that night was closed with a collection from Ali Charisma. As the designer said during the press conference, the collection he presented was both creative and wearable. He was inspired by ancient Greek goddesses, so he designed many maxi dresses made of flowing fabric like chiffon. Ali also showed his ability in creating women’s bag. Some of the models were spotted carrying clutches and tote bags as part of the look’s ensemble.
