What is it?
One of the newest foundation lines from M.A.C. that are available in Indonesia. The Pro Long Wear foundation falls under the category of makeup made for oily to combination skin. Previously, the Studio Fix line was the best available choice from M.A.C. for this type of skin.
From M.A.C. official description: A long-wear foundation that gives up to 15 hours of wear in any environmental condition. Lightweight and creamy, applies smoothly to provide sheer to medium coverage. Even in hot and humid conditions, controls oil to keep skin fresh, natural and flawless. Provides everyday SPF protection.
I am honestly not sure about the 15 hours staying power, but I’m very realistic, given the super humid and hot climate of Indonesia, I know that I would be happy with even much less than the claim. From my own experience, I need to blot my face approximately in the afternoon, approaching the end of business day.
For a week, I alternated using Studio Fix and Pro Long Wear for my foundation, and I am happy to report that, while I am currently satisfied with Studio Fix, Pro Long Wear does stay longer, giving a more lasting matte look on the skin. It also doesn’t feel heavy or cakey.

Another thing that I am extremely happy about is the packaging. My biggest pet peeve with Studio Fix is the fact that you need to pour the liquid, and being my clumsy self, I often pour too much. Pro Long Wear comes with a built in pump so you can control the amount of foundation you are using, and is less messy.
IDR 450,000 for 30 ml, available at M.A.C. counter at leading department stores.
What can be improved?
I would say the texture could definitely be improved. It could see how it can be drying for some skin types, and for the same amount of liquid, Pro Long Wear uses more than Studio Fix. The trick that I use is to mix this with just a tiny dot of moisturizer to achieve the consistency that I want, though to a little extent does compromise a bit of the staying power.
I also would like to have a bigger SPF on my foundation, but since I use sun protection anyway, this is really not a big deal, as my own rule is not to rely on built-in SPF protection in makeup products.
Bottom line, Pro Long Wear is my to-go foundation when I need that extra staying power.
