Splash of Colors for Your Beauty Look

seo-img-article

Just a quick reminder, to celebrate Fashionese Daily’s fifth years anniversary, we’re going to have another big gathering that will be held in conjunction with our action-packed Women Wired Weekend event.

… and the gathering is just around the corner! Have you signed up yet?

Along with the theme we’re having for this anniversary, the gathering’s dress code is colorful, which you could apply to your apparel, your beauty look, or your attitude 😉

After talking about colorful outfit inspirations in the previous article, we’re now giving you inspirations for your beauty look!

CORAL LIPS

This season’s must-try lip shade is so inline with Pantone’s Color of The Year: coral! Yes, yes, it’s never easy to wear bold lip colors, especially those who just got the courage to try red or fushcia lipstick without feeling like an Indonesian traditional bride or an ‘80s disco girl.

But before you get scared, check out what David Hernandez from Make Up For Ever got to say, “Coral is actually a neutral color… meaning it can be both warm and cool so it works for everyone.”

To add its plus point, don’t you think coral has a more laidback, beach-y tone compared to reds and fuschias? Perfect for our beloved tropical country!

When it comes to selecting the right coral shade for you, the key is to pick based on your skin’s undertone. If your skin has gold or yellow undertones, a peachier or orange coral will be most flattering. If you have pink undertones, choose a pink or red-based coral.

For those with pink undertones, Make Up For Ever La Bohème Rouge Artist Natural in Folk

For an inspiration, check out the Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna Zarai, spotted in New York! She composes her chic beauty style with just matte orange/coral lips, radiant skin, and a two-tone liner—classic cat-eye on top line and metallic silver on the bottom inner rim. Her skilful turban wrap as her hijab completes Yuna’s whole look.

COLORBLOCKING: EYES EDITION

The basic principle of applying this eye makeup look is similar to applying the traditional smokey eye: using using a dark color on the outer corner and a light highlight on the inner corner. However, this time, we’re using colorblocking.

What She Wore

MAC Pro Eyeshadow in Shimmermoss on the inner corner of the eye, up to the crease and to the center of the eyelid.  MAC Eyeshadow in Parfait Amour from the middle of the lid out to the outer corner. Both colors are blended together in the center.

To make the purple really stand out, MAC Pro Pigment in Violet is applied on the outer corner of the eye and along the upper lash line.

COLORBLOCKING: FULL FACE EDITION

I’m sure you’re (too) familiar with this beauty rule: if you do a bold eye, the rest of your makeup should be neutral. But in beauty colorblocking, we can forget about that.

Just remember, use bright colors—not dark hues—and use complementary colors for your eyes and lips. Be amazed as your face features pop!

Tip: If you’re not ready for this kind of bold look, ditch the blush and just play with the bright eye and lip in complementary colors.

What She Wore

Eyes: MAC Eyeshadow in Humid all over the eyelid and up into the crease, starting strong at the lash line and blending it out so it faded before it hit the brows. The eyes are then lined with MAC Eyeshadow in Passionate at the bottom inner rims.

Blush: NARS Exhibit A

Lips: MAC Lipstick in Morange, layered with NARS Lip Gloss in Scandal

COLORS ON YOUR NAILS

Taking cue from Refinery29, one of this year’s nail-color trend is neon. But they’re not the old-style, Stabillo neon, “This isn’t old-school, ’80s neon,” says Butter London creative director Nonie Creme. “It’s a grown-up, modern interpretation; the result of a neon mixed with pure white pigment to create a beautiful, pulled-back look. This is an evolution of neon—still bright and in the same color family, but more sophisticated and subdued.”

So, ready to rock the gathering?
