Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry, SS 2012

seo-img-article

At a glance, Amy Winehouse’s may not be your ‘usual’ style icon. Remember the over-the-top cat-eye liner, beehive hair, and dirty ballerina flats and tanktops? But if you see past all that and think about her overall style, you’d notice that Amy actually incorporates retro, Americana style in a bold and fun way.

Before her death, Amy worked with British fashion label Fred Perry to create a fashion collection. When the singer passed away, Fred Perry initially hesitated to launch it, but then decided to release it with the permission of Amy’s father, Mitch Winehouse.

Under such circumstances, the usual royalties and fees from the collection will be donated to The Amy Winehouse Foundation. Fred Perry will also be making a seasonal donation to the charity.

The Autumn-Winter 2011 was a hit, and now the collection is back for Spring-Summer 2012.

Referencing Amy’s love of 50s Americana and art deco Miami, the collection features an exclusive print scattered with Cadillacs, juke boxes, and cat-eye sunglasses in a palette of pink mist, pale blue and black. Fun, and totally wearable!
