2012 is here, yay! And what better way to welcome it than ogling over fresh beauty products?

Naked Palette 2 by Urban Decay, $50

Do I need to rave about the original Urban Decay Naked Palette here? Of course I don’t! You all know how phenomenal it is, right?

So, with all the awesomeness of the original Naked, should you be excited for Naked 2? I would like to, but unfortunately, I am not. Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette contains twelve eyeshadows, Lip Junkie Naked (sheer shimmery pinky neutral), and Good Karma Shadow/Crease Brush. It’s packaged in a metal tin that closes shut really well, but it is a bit heavier than Naked 1.

So far sounds good, what’s the problem then? Well, from I read on Temptalia.com, the biggest turnoff is how similar the eyeshadows are to the original palette. It even has the same warm tones.

Urban Decay is notorious for creating repeat palettes, but a dupe for your own product sounds kinda ridiculous. But if you’re an Urban Decay eye makeup junkie, hey, why not?

Guerlain Noir G Mascara, for $49.00 ($26.00 for refills)

You may be familiar with Rouge G de Guerlain Lipsticks. Now, its mascara sister has arrived—Noir G de Guerlain Mascara. The formula promises to lengthen and curl lashes, provide lash regeneration with artemia salina, and stimulate the production of keratin. It is also scented with peach, rose, jasmine, and white musk.

Nevertheless, the product’s main feature is that it’s refillable. That’s right, when you’ve used up the mascara, simply pop out the cartridge and replace it with a new one. You don’t have to throw away the pretty black lacquer package!

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush, $7.99

I don’t know about you, but for me, 2011 was all about falling in love again with cream blushes. Pricey pot rouges are nice, but the cheaper drugstore ones (with comparable quality, of course) often give more satisfaction, don’t you think?

For 2012, here’s another product to try: the Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush. It is said that the gel formula has the lightness of a powder with the blendability of a cream, so this blush bubble feels airy, melts in perfectly, and gives you a super-fresh flush.

Estée Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup, $35

Aside from robots and cure for deadly diseases, we would really love for our scientists to create a makeup base that covers like foundation, but wears like tinted moisturizer. It seems that you can’t really have both.

Yet, we still won’t give up in finding that perfect foundation, and Estee Lauder Invisible Fluid Makeup is a new product to try. Estee Lauder’s innovative new foundation features a matrix of ultra-fine pigments and multi-reflective prisms that promise to create a natural tint for a radiant, even finish. It also features a tri-phase formula that has to be shaken up—this helps blend the formula and traps micronized air particles within. The result is a lightweight, breathable application that appears as natural as bare skin. We do hope so!

Bobbi Brown Neon & Nude

“The most modern way to wear bright color is as an accent on an otherwise neutral face,” said Bobbi Brown herself about this upcoming collection.

As a fan of bright colored makeup, this has to be the collection that I anticipate the most for early 2012.

I know that neutral makeup is the key of success, but I am more of a bright-colored girl. Yet, I’m still learning the art of wearing colors and look classy and fun, not clownish.

The Neons & Nudes Collection seems a perfect answer for that. It features a unique pairing of bright, neon colors that are balanced by soft nudes and neutrals. Pair a soft, nude eye with a neon lip or a bright eye with a nude lip depending on your mood.
