A Week in Style - Erika Mariana

seo-img-article

If you ask me, what’s the best thing to have to liven up a party, I would say my friend Erika Mariana Tambunan 🙂 During college days, she was famous for being the life of the party, the campus comedian, and also for her confidence and great, deep, belly laugh. Fast forward a few years later, she is now a marketing staff for a well-known skincare clinic, a wife of a great Bataknese man, and a mother-to-be! This month, check out Erika’s workwear flair for A Week in Style.

Hi, Erika! Tell us what you do, exactly.

I work in the Marketing Department for a well-renown skincare clinic in Jakarta, specifically in Brand & Customer Engagement. All in all, what I do is to retain loyal customers, high-spenders and VIP customers by creating creative strategies and activities. Not just maintaining, I also have to keep on innovating so the number of high-spenders and VIP customers keep on increasing.

It’s a very time-consuming job with endless things to do everyday!

Describe your typical work-day!

Everyday, I have to leave home for work at 6 a.m.—the ‘beauty’ of living in the suburb! My chaotic work-day begins at 8.30 a.m. I usually start the day by reading emails, which almost always carry big news. We have meetings nearly everyday, either weekly meeting with the marketing team, or meetings with other departments to talk about, for instance, company agendas that need to integrate other departments. Like branch openings, for example. There are also meetings with outside parties such as magazines, vendors, banks etc. And at busy times, like end of year, we even do meetings on the weekends.

What are your must-haves for workwear?

I have to wear at least one accessory—it can be necklaces, bracelets, rings, scarves, or sometimes cute shoes will do. If I forgot to wear one, I can easily walk to Grand Indonesia—the nearest shopping mall from office—to buy something. But I always ask for my husband’s permission first, “Mike, I forgot my necklace. I feel like I’m naked! Can I buy one, pleeeease?”

What are your Do’s and Don’ts for workwear?

Do’s: Comfortable, simple, and cool clothing. Cool as in non heat-trapping.
Don’ts: Shoes that are ONLY pretty but painful to wear. They have to be both cute and comfortable. An uncomfortable pair of shoes can pretty much ruin my day.
