We know, we know, it’s a bit too late, but if you’ve noticed, November was plainly a crazy busy month for us! And since it’s still way early in December, I think a November Editor Pick is still valid, isn’t it? And tell me who doesn’t like product picks from your favorite editors? 😉

This time we asked: What’s your current favorite local fashion OR beauty product?

Hanzky

My favorite local brand is MyTulisan. It’s hard to pick which item I like best because I like everything they have ever produced. From the bags, to the pouch, the teacup set, notepad and even the apron. I love the colors, the graphic prints because they are very Indonesian without being too ethnic, as well as the story behind each of them. Picking up presents is now easier too since I have found this label.

Lena

My favorite local beauty brand has got to be Sariayu and the rest of the brands under Martha Tilaar group. It’s a no-fail when you want good products at low prices. As a beauty junkie, it’s also a great quick fix without heavily damaging your wallet. I also take foreign female friends to Martha Tilaar shops (previously Puri Ayu) as part of the exclusive Lena Tour de Jakarta—everyone enjoys those visits and were able to find something they like. And when they’re back in Indonesia, that’s one destination they re-visit.

Annisa

My favourite local brand would be Square (I am also a fan of their outfit line, Up2date). I admire the way they define beauty through veil, and the way they prove that headscarf styles really are unlimited. They meet the needs of hijabers for more practical and efficient way of wearing hijab, while staying beautiful prominently. Square’s style doesn’t feel like they’re creating a trend, or following the trend, because they innovate every time, and establish a unique, different style for the customers.

Affi

I’m a lipstick girl, that’s no secret. And I’ve been very excited to find more and more local brands coming up with great lip products, with excellent formula and interesting color choices. My current favorite is Wardah Exclusive Lipstick. It’s super creamy, feels comfortable on the lips, non-drying and it has great color payoff. One of the shades I’m wearing almost everyday is called Chic Magenta. Despite the name, it is actually a deep watermelon pink with sheen that is not only bright and fun, but complements my skin tone really well. I wore this lipstick almost exclusively during my London trip and received lots of compliments. The fact that this lipstick costs less than a cup of your gourmet coffee serves as an incredibly yummy icing on the cake 😉

Vanya

Mine will be Buttercup Shoes. I thought I am done with online shop shoes, because most of the shoes I bought were not too comfortable. I saw Alannah Nude in their counter in FX, and when I tried them on, they were quite comfortable and very well made. So I ended up buying two pairs, Alannah Nude and Kayla Navy Blue. I tried wearing Alannah for a whole day meeting and I didn’t get any blister at all.

Deszell

One Indonesian brand that I’m currently paying close attention to is Eclair Shoes, which was used by Sisca Tjong at her ESMOD show during JFW 2012. It’s exciting to see where the brand’s future direction is heading because the brand is pretty new and the collection is still fairly small. The ones shown at the JFW 2012 were their next collection, which unfortunately I have no good photos of. Currently, Pop Shop and Happy-Go-Lucky in Bandung stock their items but you can also see the few creations that they have on their website. Adity, the owner of the brand is a graduate of Ars Sutoria, International Institute of Footwear and Leather Goods Model Design in Milan. With a background knowledge in shoes, I’m sure excited to see her future collection.

My eyes are particularly drawn to this pair of Brooklyn Purple pair from her current collection because even though you’ve seen so many colour-blocking shoes lately, but you can still see some fresh touch here. At Rp 685,000 and made of real leather for upper and lining, this is something worth to consider ,don’t you think? Contact them through their their Twitter account @eclairshoes.

Rizka

My pick falls to La Tulipe Eyeshadow Base. Actually this isn’t a new finding, I was introduced to this product in FD Kelas Dandan about a year ago. Ever since, I always use La Tulipe Eyeshadow Base before I apply my eye makeup. It comes in very affordable prize, about Rp 30,000 at the time when I purchased it and it makes any color of eyeshadow looks more pigmented compared to wearing the eyeshadow alone. My eyeshadow lasts for hours, all day, even when I sweat a lot. (I experienced joining a running competition with full makeup on, and my eyeshadow was still there although I sweat like crazy). Enough said!
