Best Of British Fashion Show Is Back

Hotel Mulia Senayan once more presented Best of British fashion show on its Lifestyle Section of The Cafe. This time, it showcased BOB Spring/Summer 2012 with the collections from young and talented British designers such as KTZ, Belle Sauvage, Haizhen, Vassilia, Tim Soar and Boudicca. Thanks to Glamour Inc, the fashion organizer who brought the designers and invited me to the show.

Remember last year’s BOB that we reported on which you could find many outfits featuring digital prints? Now the key trend for digital prints continued, allowing the designers to manipulate shapes, decorate surface of the designs.

The show was opened with bejeweled print collection inspired by tribal beauty of Africa from KTZ. The very first look of BOB fashion show and KTZ itself was a pink jewel dress, paired with multi-layered African necklace and beaded cap. Another show stopping outfit from KTZ was black embroidery 3/4 sleeves dress paired with organza embroidery jacket and Krystal champagne stone necklace. Also, its, tribal-orange hooded coat is something not to be missed.

Among other designers, personally the prints that I love the most came from Belle Sauvage’s collection. Have a look on that baby blue crepe short dress, yellow pleated puff sleeve dress or the yellow printed cutout neckline cocktail dress! They all have delicate motifs and colors. Not only that, the designer duo Virginia Ferreira and Christian Neuman successfully captured the breeziness of tropical attires.

I noticed almost all outfits from Haizhen were designed with asymmetrical cutting. With a collection that had been showcased in Paris for Lee Lapthorn’s On/Off Showroom this season, Haizhen also tried to balance the creativity while making sure it’s still suitable for Asian consumer as you see that the dress were mostly made with light and flowy material.

It is said that Vassilisa, a graduate of Central St Martin, plays with Romanesque, ancient Greek architecture and symbols in 70’s influence. What I found the most attractive from Vassalisa’s collection was the blue necklace-print V-neck top with deer-print bell skirt that look cute and unique with the print.

Tim Soar interpreted his woman wear as sharp and in clean shape as menswear collection. This androgyny look is most apparent from its black halter dress and its black organza top paired with patent collar paired with houndstooth skirt.

The last designer on the show was Boudicca but actually it has the highest number of outfits among all. Boudicca showcased 10 outfits that were dominated with black and metallic colors. That’s why the appearance of blue taffeta dress added an element of surprise in the collection.

After seeing some collections in Best Of British fashion show, which label that holds your attention the most?
