Do you know what Denny Wirawan, Eddy Betty, Irsan, Sebastian Gunawan, Rusli Tjohnardi and even Michael Pondaag have in common? All those impressive figures in Indonesian fashion are part of LPTB Susan Budihardjo alumni. Being the pioneer of Indonesian fashion school, it’s been 31 years LPTB Susan Budihardjo educates the students to be potential fashion designer, fashion stylist, fashion editor and the like.
Recently the fashion school held a fashion show to introduce the designs from its talented students at The Hall, Senayan City, Jakarta. There were 24 young designers graduated from LPTB Susan Budihardjo in 2007, 2008 and 2009, each of them showcased 5 outfits. Besides, 12 best students from 2011 graduates also participated, each of them showcased 3 outfits.
What’s interesting is, this time LPTB Susan Budihardjo picked “Ready to Wear” as the guideline of the collections. Unlike fashion show the institute held last year, now everyone can enjoy the show without wondering if they could wear the attires off the runway. The guideline seems very sensible as in 2011, ready-to-wear industry is growing. It is apparent from the emergence of new generation that produce ready-to-wear fashion and senior designers who start to open their ready-to-wear line besides its custom-made business. The action that LPTB Susan Budihardjo takes to make its students succeed in ready-to-wear business is not only by holding a fashion show. It also works together with Metro department store, so hopefully the graduates are given the path to the business.
It will be nice know if the collections are available for retail because many of the creations are interesting. The outfits they created are as creative and appealing as those created by established designers, don’t you think so?
