'Best Of British' Collections Brought In Jakarta

seo-img-article

I guess nothing could be more blissful than having a cup of tea, cakes and enjoying fashion show in an afternoon. Moreover, the designers who contributed to the fashion show were claimed as “Best Of British“.

That’s what I experienced at The Cafe, Hotel Mulia, where Best Of British collections were brought to Jakarta after they’re showcased in Paris and London Fashion Week. They were Joanne Hynes/ Helen Steele, Mee And Thee, Hermione De Paula, Alice Lee /Lee Clapthorne, and Boudicca. Cary Chen, a representation from Glamour Inc which hosted this event, said that the designers already had good reputation in fashion industry and they also designed for other well-known designers or labels. Here are some of their Autumn/ Winter 2011 creations:

“Digital prints continue with a high street collection of Me And Thee indicating the pervasiveness and influence of technology in fashion” as stated on the release to describe Me And Thee collection. Abstract print on turquoise silk tunic paired with palladium pants (left photo) and yellow-black printed sleeveless dress (right) from Me And Thee.  They’re both accessorized with  bold necklace and matching bangles. Now who says printed clothes don’t need statement accessories?

Flower motif doesn’t belong to Spring/Summer only. Hermione De Paula let the flowers bloom in the collection. They’re still in Autumn/Winter nuances since the shades consisted of gray, deep red, black and beige. My picks are the pale gray mini dresses with rose print and overlay chiffon skirt (above photo, left), black and red roseprint dress with overlay of long black chiffon (above photo, right), black and beige V-neck long dress (below photo, left) and spaghetti strap maxi dress with unfinished look (photo below, right). FYI, during London Fashion Week, Liberty department store launched the season’s new collection with Hermione.

As we can see from below photos, Boudicca‘s creations are sharp in tailoring and details. The white long cotton shirt looked so interesting with its pleated on front and cut-out details on the arms. As another example, how the gray jacket was paired with white frill cotton shirt and asymmetrical skirt is extraordinary.

Do you notice that the collections are all weather-appropriate to be worn in our country regardless of the fact they were made in Britain? Glamour Inc had chosen which clothes to be showcased and made sure that they’re suitable to be worn here. Can’t wait to see the next Best Of British fashion show for upcoming Spring/Summer!
