I first heard about the Sariayu 25 Years Anniversary Eye Shadow Palette in the Female Daily Forum’s Sariayu thread. After hunting for a few weeks, I finally got my hands on one a few days ago. The ladies are right, it is a gorgeous palette. Befitting it’s name, the palette includes 25 eye shadow shades from various collections of the past 25 years.

The back cover lists all the themes from previous collections, from 1987 to 2011. As I looked over the collection titles, I can’t believe I still recall some from the late 80’s and early 90’s (anyone else remember Puri Prameswari and Riwayat Asmat?). Time flies indeed.

The palette is nicely packaged, if a bit simple. There is a little mirror inside, which I appreciate. The whole palette is light enough that you can hold it up to your face in one hand as you paint the canvas that is your eyes.

Of the 25 colors, two are cream shadows (I recall this from a not-so-distant past collection), and at least two are relatively matte (the navy in the first row and the dark purple in the last row). The rest are shimmery and some bordering on the frosty. Some of these eye shadows are more chalky than the rest, but in general I find Sariayu eyeshadows soft, wonderfully pigmented and true to color, easy to blend, and with a good eye shadow base, will last at least 6 hours.

There are a lot of pinks and reds in the collection; when swatched side by side, they don’t look too similar, yet I wonder at the practicality of all these reds. There are also three silvery shadows, and including the gray-silver cream shadow, I think we’re at least one too many. I’d have liked the palette to include the amazing olive-brown from last year, and one real gunmetal gray, but alas, at the retail price of Rp170,000, I think this is good value and will let you create numerous eye looks.

As they say, a picture speaks a thousand words, so I’ll let you browse the gallery of product pictures and swatches and judge for yourself. More discussion on this product can be found in the Sariayu thread, and as more members get their hands on this palette, no doubt some eye looks will start popping up in the FOTD thread. Enjoy!
