A Touch of Gold on Your Finger

seo-img-article

When I saw the backstage photos of Jason Wu‘s latest runway show, I was captivated by the touch of gold that was used on the eyes and the nails. It gives a really good contrast between the colours that were used, brown on the tip and blue on the eyes. What could be an otherwise normal colour, when mixed with gold could be so glamorous.

Since I like dark nail polishes, I tried to copy Jason Wu’s nail polish look but I mix my black nail polishes with gold which gives even more contrast. I put the gold on the tip of my manicure. Here’s the result of my experiment:

If you want to do this manicure these are what you will need:

  • Dark nail polish, I choose black because that’s the nail polish colour I used day to day. Mine is MAC Nocturnelle.
  • Gold nail polish.
  • Sponge.
  • Top coat.

To do this manicure, here’s the step by step instruction:

  1. Put two coat of black nail polishes into your tips or until it looks opaque. You start with a clean black canvas like the one shown above.
  2. Pat some of the gold nail polish into your sponge. Make sure that it’s damp enough. Apply the polish into the middle top part of the sponge.
  3. Fold the sponge and hold the end part of the sponge like seen on the picture below.
  4. Pat the sponge that have the gold nail polish into your nails to stain the black nail polish with gold. Don’t worry if it doesn’t look like it’s neat the first time. You can always dab some more gold nail polish. If it doesn’t look uniform, it’s also okay since variety will make it even look better.
  5. Lastly, to make sure that the surface will look smooth don’t forget to apply a top coat.
