Although most of us may have put prom nights and the memories of it behind or some of us, like me, didn’t even have one (unless you count ‘malam perpisahan’ at Puncak as prom night) – but that doesn’t mean we can’t wear the prom-inspired collection from MAC called Balloonacy.
The visual may seem a little “loony” but the shades in this collection are all surprisingly wearable. I got a chance to visit MAC counter in PS yesterday to check out the products and here’s my report :
Very nice selection of summer colors (and one fall) for everybody. If you want coral, choose Festivity (my favorite!), for girls who are into pinks, they’ve got Fun Fun which is a nice bubble gum pink. For the nude-lovers, you can try Up-Note (neutral peach) and the bold can go with Full Blown – a rich, sexy purple with frost.
The lipglasses are available in 3 “safe” colors – Out For Fun (light pink), Perky (lilac) and Pink Meringue (a mid-tone pink, slightly darker than Out For Fun) and 1 stand-out color – Silly Girl. It’s a very pretty peach color with multi-color pearl and it looks fresh and fun on my lips. Definitely a winner!
Only comes in 1 eye quad called Pandamonium which has 4 outstanding shades – off-white with gold pearl (great for browbones and inner corner of your eyes), soft lilac, intense purple and smokey grey (mix these two together to create a sexy bedroom eyes).
Very hard to decided which one is the best among the 3 shades – Viz-a-Violet is a very interesting mid-tone purple, Helium is a pretty pink while Golden Olive is a gorgeous golden moss green which I couldn’t stop admiring when I put some on the back of my hand.
Softsparkle Eye Pencil
This is a highlight in this collection in my opinion. The creamy pencil gives intense colors with subtle shimmer which can add drama to your eyes. I like the fact that this pencil is creamy enough to blend but not as soft as MAC eye kohls which smudges 5 minutes after I put it on. Available in 4 colors – Nightsky (black with silver pearl), Goldenair (white gold with pearl), Mint & Olive (moss green with gold pearl) and Iris Accents (light violet with silver pearl). When I was at the counter, some of the makeup artists were using Mint & Olive to line their lower lash lines and it made their eyes all sparkly and pretty. I am smitten!
This a silky, soft powder with fine pearl which you can use a blush or tap it lightly all around your face with a big fluffy brush for a healthy glow. Comes in 2 very nice colors and embossed in a cute “balloon” design – Hullaballoo (neutral peach with gold pearl) and Mellow Rave (mid-tone brown).
They brought back Nocturnelle nail lacquer – a rich black with no pearl or undertones – and add another color which I think will be a best-seller called Vin Goth. It’s an intense, rich purple with silver shimmer and a bit similar to OPI’s Lincoln Park At Midnight. I am over the dark nail polish phase but I wouldn’t mind using this on my toes.
Oh just to warn you guys, the nice people at MAC told me that the Balloonacy collection flies off the shelves fast so if you’ve got your eyes on something, you better hurry!
